Another month has passed and Trace still isn't back. He said he would call tonight that we needed to talk.
I'm nervous but also excited to talk to him. I miss seeing him and feeling his touch.
Work went by fast and I did tattoo after tattoo and I just couldn't wait to get home and talk to Trace.
I was hoping he would be saying he was coming home. I took a shower and put on my PJs and laid across the bed just as he called.
📞Hey!
📞Hey Morgan!
📞How was today?
📞Oh, I tattooed a lot of people. How about you?
📞Umm was making arrangements for mom. She's having surgery in a couple of days to see if they can remove the cancer.
📞Oh wow, Trace!
📞Yeah, I've been on the phone all day begging to get her this surgery.
📞So I guess that means you won't be coming home anytime soon?
📞No, I'm sorry! I mean Jessa had to go back to college and there will be no one to stay with mom.
📞I understand Trace I really do but I just miss you.
📞I miss you too Morgan I really do and I'm sorry I haven't come back yet. When I left I thought I wouldn't be gone long.
📞I thought the same thing. Maybe we can video chat tomorrow night?
📞That sounds good. I can't wait to see your face Trace.
📞Me too. Well, I gotta get going I have to go give mom her meds. I love you, Morgan.
📞I love you too Trace. Bye
📞Bye.
I hold my phone close to my chest and begin to cry. I have never felt like this and it sucks.
I slip down in the bed and lay the phone beside me and cry myself to sleep. I can't keep doing this to myself.
The next morning I wake up and get dressed for work. There is nothing else for me to do and I can't sit around here sulking waiting for Trace to get back.
I hug mom when I walked in but kept to myself and got my stuff set up for my first tattoo of the morning. I'm trying to keep busy so I won't think of Trace.
"Hey, Morg! Are you ok?" Ethan asked.
"I'm ok I guess." I sigh.
"Lunch on me let's go across the road and catch up?" He asked.
"Ok sure," I said.
I got through three tattoos and my stomach was growling by the time lunch was here.
"Are you ready?" Ethan asked.
"Yeah, I'm starving so let's go," I said grabbing my phone and putting it in my pocket.
"Be back in a bit mom going across the road with Ethan to eat," I said.
"Sure thing. Bring me back a grilled cheese?" She said.
"Of course mom." I smiled walking out and across the road with Ethan. We ordered our food and took a seat.
"So what's up buttercup?" Ethan laughed.
"Just hungry is all." I shrugged.
"I've known you all of my life you can't tell me nothing is wrong I know better. It has to do with Trace doesn't it?" He asked.
"His mom is having surgery tomorrow and he is planning on staying even longer," I said.
"I'm sorry Morgan. I can see how much this is bothering you. I know you miss him and you just aren't acting the same." He said.
"I'm sorry Ethan! I've never been in love before and this is throwing me for a loop. I'm sorry I'm so depressing to be around." I sigh.
"Hey, it's ok!" He said getting up and walking around and putting his arm around me.
"Thanks, Ethan. I know I've been a crappy friend and was only wanting to spend time with Trace."
"It's ok I try to understand but I still want to sleep with you." He laughs.
I push him away... "Get away from me! You arent right Ethan."
He sits back down and laughs. "Fine, I was just trying to make you laugh."
"Thanks, I needed that. Maybe you and me and DJ and Junie and my new friend Sunny should hang out sometime."
"Sunny huh?" He smirked.
"Back off she's seven months pregnant by the jerk Shawn that attacked me. We have become friends." I smile.
"Maybe we can go bowling or something. I mean can she do that at seven months pregnant?" He asked.
"Umm that I am not sure. We may have to ask mom about that." I laugh.
We finish lunch and before getting up my phone beeps.
📱I miss you, Morgan!
📱I miss you too Trace.
📱What are you up to?
📱Just had lunch with Ethan about to walk back across the road and get busy.
📱Have fun tattooing without me. Tell everyone hello for me.
📱I will I love you Trace.
📱I love you too Morgan. Talk later.
📱Bye
"Trace?"
"Yeah, it was." I smile.
"I could tell because your face lit up. You really love him don't you?" He asked.
"I really do," I said walking back into the shop.
I went back over to my area and got out my ink and was getting set up when a guy walked in and smiled talking to my mom.
She brought him over to me. "Morgan this here is Croy"
"Hi, Croy! I'm Morgan have a seat." I said.
"Nice to meet you, Morgan. They didn't say you were hot" He laughed.
"That's just a perk." I laugh.
"So I sent in a picture of what I wanted on my chest did you get it?" He said.
"Oh yeah, I have been working on it. Tell me what you think." I said handing it over to him.
"Oh, it's beautiful. I really love the roses and how you have them positioned." He said.
"Let's get the stencil on and see how it looks," I said applying it to his skin.
"I know whatever you do is going to be bomb. I've seen your work before." He said.
"Thanks I appreciate that." I smiled.
