I'm not sure how the accident happened but when I woke up Jessa wasn't responding at all. I called 911 and worked on getting out of the car but I was in a lot of pain myself.

It wasn't long until the ambulance and fire crew came and extracted me from the car and I watched on in horror as they pulled Jessa's lifeless body out of the car.

I kept asking if she was ok but they wouldn't answer me at all. I was horrified and I pulled my phone out of my pocket to text Morgan but they wanted to start an IV.

Once at the hospital and all the tests they decided to keep me and finally a nurse told me that my sister was in ICU and that she had bleeding on the brain and it was swelling.

I was in shock but pulled out my phone to call mom but it was dead. I used the room phone and called her and broke the news and then asked to ask the neighbor to come over.

I knew I couldn't call Morgan so I asked mom to and I hope that she did because if not she will be wondering where I am.

The nurse walked in. "Good morning Mr. Cain how are you feeling?"

"Extremely sore but I really need to see my sister," I said.

"I understand and when you get released I will make sure you get up there to see her ok?" She said.

"Thank you I appreciate that a lot. By chance do you have a charger for an iPhone? I desperately need to get ahold of my girlfriend." I asked.

"You're in luck I brought my charger today to work. I'll bring it right to you." She smiled walking out the door.

She came back in with the cord and plugged the charger into the wall for me and I was able to get my phone to come on.

📱 Morgan are you awake?

📱 Trace! Oh my god! I've been so worried. Call me?

📞 Hey!

📞 Oh Trace I have never been so happy to hear your voice. Are you ok?

📞 I'm ok just sore with these ribs but I'm being discharged today but Jessa she's bad Morgan.

📞 I'm so sorry to hear that. What's going on with her?

📞 She's in ICU and her brain is swelling and she has a bleed on the brain. The nurse is going to take me up to her.

📞 I'm sorry to hear that. I talked to your mom last night and I want to book a flight and get there. But she wanted me to wait and talk to you first.

📞 Morgan, you can't just leave what about your clients and stuff?

📞 They will be ok with at least two days without me. Please let me book a flight I need to see you.

📞 Fine, I'm ok with that just be careful and let me know ok? I'm using a nurse's charger so I could call you.

📞 I'm glad you did. I love you Trace and I'm so thankful that you are ok but I'm praying for Jessa. If she needs a specialist money is no object you got it?

📞 That's generous of you. I hope to see you later tonight? Who will pick you up?

📞 I got it covered. I will rent a car. Don't worry about me just give me your mom's address in a text ok?

📞 I can do that. Well, I'm going to let my phone charge and I'll talk to you soon. I love you, Morgan.

📞 I love you too Trace. See you soon.

Once off the phone I close my eyes and try to remember what happened but I do remember seeing a red truck coming straight into us.

When I opened my eyes a police officer walked into the room. "Good day sir. I'm officer Richardson can you tell me what happened?"

"I was just trying to remember but I do know a red truck came through the red light right at us. I know the light was green on our side." I said.

"That's very helpful. We are getting camera footage and what about your sister how is she?" He asked.

"As far as I know there is no change she's in ICU with bleeding and swelling on the brain," I said.

"So if I need to ask further questions I can reach you on your cell?" He asked.

"Yeah that it," I said.

"Thank you for your time Mr. Cain and I do hope your sister will be ok." He said.

"Thank you, officer," I said looking out the window. Why did this have to happen? There is no way I can go back to Myrtle and leave mom in a vulnerable position and Jessa in a coma.

A couple of hours later I was released and the nurse rolled me up to Jessa's room and when I saw all the wires and tubes and her head all wrapped up I couldn't help but tear up.

I rolled the wheelchair over to Jessa's bedside. "Come on Jessa you can do it. You are one of the smartest people I know and I can't do life without my annoying little sister in my life." I sniff.

I sit there for two hours holding Jessa's hand and praying that she would wake up and get better.

I called for a Uber and had the nurse take me down because by law they had to take me outside in the wheelchair.

I got in the Uber and headed home. I needed to see mom and update her on Jessa because I know she's worried about death.

I got a text from Morgan before I got home.

📱 I'm about to board the plane. See you soon. Love you Trace! ♥️

📱 I just got home. I will see you soon. Love you too Morgan. 😘

I got out of the car with great pain to my side and walked into the house and straight to Mom's room.
