I can't catch a break it seems. Mom is having to go for treatments every day and I can tell that Morgan is getting frustrated with me not being back yet but what can I do?
I order her a bunch of red roses and have them delivered to the front desk of our apartment building. Maybe that will put a smile on her face.
"Trace where are you?"
"On the back porch Jessa."
"How's mom doing?" She asked.
"Tired. She has slept most of the day since we made it back home." I said.
"I'm sorry I haven't been around much. I've had so much school work it's not even funny."
"I understand Jessa I really do."
"Then why do you look so miserable Trace?"
"I just miss Morgan. She's the best thing that's ever happened to me." I sigh.
"Why don't you try and go back for a few days and I'll stay with mom?" She said.
"I can't do that when you have so much school work you can't concentrate and take care of her," I said.
"I've never seen you in love big brother and I would hate for her to think this is too overwhelming and end things with you." She said.
"I don't even want to think like that. I just sent her some roses. I want her to know I love her. We video chatted last night and she fell asleep on me." I smile.
"Sounds romantic." She smiled.
"Would you like to help me fix some dinner for mom? She doesn't have much of an appetite so I've been trying to make soup but today I plan to make her potato soup." I said.
"I can help peel the potatoes." She said.
"Sounds good let's go. But I'm going to check on her first." I said.
I walked to her room and she was sound asleep. I walked to the bathroom to wash my hands and send Morgan a text.
📱I love you, Morgan! Make sure to stop by the desk before heading to your apartment this evening.
📱Ok, I will Love you too Trace! Gotta get to tattooing!
I smile looking at my phone. God, I miss her so much.
"I wondered what happened to you." Jessa said.
"I checked on mom and then I went to wash my hands and then texted Morgan," I said grabbing a knife.
I cut the potatoes up as Jessa peeled them. "So any boy in your life?" I asked.
"Not really. I mean I study so much and study with a couple guys and girls and one I find cute but nothing is going on." She laughed.
"Well ok then. If you like him go for it. Guys like confident girls." I said.
"I'm not confident nor pretty Trace." She said.
"Come on Jessa! You are a beautiful young woman and my sister who I'm proud of."
"I appreciate that big brother but I just want to get through school. I'm not confident like Morgan. I could never have all those tattoos." She said.
"Morgan surprised me at first with how abrupt she was and it made me like her even more," I said.
I began cooking the potato soup while Jessa sits at the counter and we talked about everything.
"Did I tell you she took a guy down in our apartment elevator?" I laugh.
"No, I don't think so what happened?" She asked.
"He attacked her in the elevator because she told him she was telling his fiancée he was cheating on her and once the elevator shut he tried to put her in a headlock but she got him down so fast and beat the crap out of him." I laugh.
"Wow! I would have liked to see that." Jessa laughed.
"Since I've been gone she's become really good friends with the guy's ex-fiancée Sunny and she's seven months pregnant," I said.
"Oh wow, that sucks for Sunny," Jessa said.
"Yeah, it is but the girl he was cheating with shes now pregnant too," I said.
"Oh, he sucks I'm glad Morgan beat him up." She laughed just as mom hollered out.
"I will go check," I said.
"No you cook I'll go." She said.
I finished making the soup and took it off the stove then went to check to see what was going on.
"Mom had to potty. Do you want me to bring her to her chair?" Jessa asked.
"Yeah if you can and I'll go dish out the food," I said.
We all sit down to eat together and I gathered up Mom's pills and handed them to her. "Are you feeling ok mom?"
"Yeah, just sore Trace but thank you for cooking this I woke up hungry." She smiled.
"Jessa helped. She peeled the potatoes."
"Thank you both for helping to take care of me. I know you both have lives that you want to get back to." She said.
"Mom my main concern is you. I want to make sure that you are ok." I said.
"I raised such great kids. I love you both dearly and I'm sorry that I have cancer again." She said.
"Mom! You can't help that you have cancer again." Jessa said.
After dinner was over and the kitchen cleaned up my phone beeped.
📱Oh, Trace! I love my roses!
📱I'm glad you like them. I just wanted you to know I was thinking of you.
📱I love you Trace! I'm heading back out soon. I'm going to go visit Sunny for a bit.
📱Take my truck, please. It hasn't been started or ran in a while.
📱I don't know if I can drive anything other than a motorcycle but I'll try.😬
📱You can do it be careful beautiful and I love you.
📱I love you too Trace! I'll text you later.
I went out on the back porch where Jessa was sitting with a book.
"Are you staying tonight?" I ask her.
"Yeah, I thought I would."
"Good I have someone to talk to." I smile at her.
