It looked almost desolate. Quiet.

"Just... stay close... They know me here... He just forgot some scrolls and you were kind enough to give me a means of transport." Aleurian said.

I nodded as I followed him up the stairs to the city.

We walked through the people, I tried to keep my head down. A few people said hello to Aleurian but didn't stop us to make conversation.

We walked right into the large tower in the center of the city.

"Aleurian? What are you doing here? I thought you were with Governor Maxinan at Cair Paravel." The gatekeeper said.

"I was, until he forgot some important scrolls." Aleurian said.

"And who's this with you?"

"This is Vyla, she's close with the king. She offered to escort me personally considering these scrolls were very important." I thought I was good at selling lies... But he was so sure of himself I almost forgot that he was acting.

"We want your dear Oramythh to marry the High king, don't we?" I smiled.

"Very true." The gatekeeper smiled. He motioned to the two-people guarding the gate and they opened it.

"Okay, part one down."

"Part one?" I asked.

"You think you're involved with the lives of your rulers... the governor's advisor is ten times worse. We just gotta get in in and out before-"

"Aleurian!" The woman's voice called.

Aleurian stopped in his tracks. "Speak of the witch." He mumbled.

"Lady Meerdarawith." He said bowing his head. I didn't do anything as the woman, walked over.

She had dark brown hair and brown eyes.

"Where is Maxinan and Oaramythh?" She asked.

"Still at Cair Paravel getting things sorted... He sent me to retrieve some things."

"And who are you?"

I decided not to lie as I held my hand out. "Vyla, the personal advisor of King Peter, King Edmund, Queen Susan and Queen Lucy." I said.

She looked at my hand and didn't shake it as she looked back at Aleurian.

"My husband doesn't forget things... What could he have possibly forgotten?"

I could tell Aleurian's mind was racing.

"I just need some records. Proof of the Governor's governorship and such." I said.

She glared at me before letting us pass.

"I told you." He said.

"I thought I was uptight." I mumbled. "That is Oramythh's mother?"

Aleurian shook his head. "Stepmother."

"Of course." I chuckled as we headed up to the records room. We walked inside and the four walls were lined in scrolls and lose papers.

"Well... Start looking." He said.

We were in there so long. Looking through every paper. You'd think a governor would have everything organized. But nope...

I had fallen asleep when Aleurian shook me awake.

"We gotta go."

"Why?" I asked, glaring at him, rubbing my eye.
