(The Caspian Conquest)

(Narnian Year 1998-2303)

(Prince Caspian)

I was allowed to stay in the castle with young Caspian and his expecting wife. I ended up becoming good friends with her and helped deliver her son, who they named Caspian the second. I became a nurse for the child and taught him lots. But shortly both his parents passed and that's how it went for the next nine generations so none of them knew or realized I wasn't aging...

That's how it happened all the way to Caspian the ninth. I remember when Caspian the tenth was born and shortly after that, Caspian the ninth died... But his death was rather unexpected...

After Caspian the ninth's death, his younger brother Miraz felt he was the heir to the throne. I knew Caspian the Tenth was in danger... Cornelius was the only one who knew that I was a Narnian... He was himself a half dwarf living near the castle.

He told me the night that Caspian the ninth died that I should run... Get to the safety of the woods.

I didn't want to go... I wanted to watch Caspian the Tenth grow up like I had seen his father and grandfather and great grandfathers. But I saw the look in Miraz's eye whenever there were whispers of Narnian's...

So, I knew it was for the best that I leave. I had gifted Cornelius with Susan's horn to give to Caspian in time of great need. I said goodnight to Caspian knowing it was going to be a long time till I saw him again.

I climbed onto my horse and rode to the temple, where the stone table now resided. They called it Aslan's How.

I lived there for a few years until I caught word from the trees and some Narnian's I was sheltering, that Miraz had a son, and Caspian, now grown, was on the run. And then I heard the horn...

I don't know if anyone else did but I heard Susan's horn.

I ran through the woods towards Trufflehunter's hovel, the hood of my cloak keeping me mostly hidden in the shadows.

I knocked quickly on the tiny door. It was dark and I heard horses hooves running throughout the woods.

The door quickly opened and the dwarf pulled me inside.

"Lady Vyla. Why are you here? The forest is littered with Telmarines" The dwarf Nikabrik asked.

"Because I heard the horn..." I said looking at Caspian who was sleeping in the small bed.

I walked over to him and looked at what a handsome man he had grown into.

"What happened to his head?" I asked.

"I knocked him out..." Nikabrik said.

"My Prince Caspian." I whispered wanting to touch him but refrained.

"You know the boy?" Nikabrik asked.

I nodded. "I was his nurse for a while. And his father's, and his fathers, and his fathers all the way back to king Caspian the second. I was worried for his life knowing how wicked Miraz is."

Badger was stirring a pot. "You came all the way, from The How, to help him? You really care for this boy."

"I'm afraid I cannot stay long. Aslan is on the move. Things are changing. This boy. Will reunite Narnia." I smiled.
