I was laying down, my cloak flowing around me as I looked at the dark ceiling of The How.
"My lady, I'm sorry to wake you, but Prince Caspian's caravan has been spotted... They'll be here soon." Someone said from my doorway.
I honestly didn't feel like getting up...
But I stood and one of the fauns told me that they were in the stone table room.
I walked in that direction just as someone was walking out. We bumped into each other which caused me to fall backwards.
"I'm so sorry." He said as he helped me to my feet. I quickly put my hood back on as I looked to see who bumped me. I could just make out his face in the firelight.
"Edmund?" I asked, in disbelief taking my hood off again.
"Vy? You... You're still alive?" He asked as I wrapped him in a hug.
"I, I can't believe you're here." I whispered. "I knew it would work... Are... the others?"
"Peter's in there... He's missed you so much Vy..." He said.
"Glad to know none of those London girls caught his eye." I smiled.
"He talked about you every day... Now... Go see him... It's been a year for him but... thousands for you..."
I nodded giving Edmund another hug before walking into the other room.
And there he was... Peter... Looked like how he looked the first time I met him but slightly older, taller, and his hair was slightly longer.
I could feel tears coming to my eyes as he looked at the pictures on the wall.
"P, Peter?" I croaked out. He didn't do anything, so I said again, louder, "Peter!"
That got his attention. He turned and almost dropped the torch in his hand.
"Vyla?" He asked putting it into the holder on the wall.
"Yeah, it's me Pete." I smiled before we ran to meet each other.
We hugged a long time before Peter took my face and kissed me.
"I've missed you so much." He whispered. "Robin... Where's Robin?" He asked looking over my shoulder.
"You would have been so proud... So proud." I said not being able to control the steady stream of tears. "We have a lot to catch up on my dear. I've been waiting for a long time for you."
"How long." He whispered in my ear.
"twelve hundred and eighty-eight years without you."
He backed up and held my face in his hand.
"When did Robin..."
"He ruled for twelve hundred and seventy years." I smiled. "He married Eevelah and they had a daughter... her name was SwanWhite... and she was so kind..."
"Vy..." Peter whispered.
"He died trying to protect Cair Paravel from the Telmarines... He warned me... Told me to get to safety." Tears were running again. "I hid in the treasure room and when I came out... I found him... gasping for breath... He died in my arms Peter."
Peter pulled me into another hug.
"I could never be prouder. Knowing you raised our son alone... and you don't know how much it pained me... to be away from you every day..." He played with the hair at my shoulder.
"I thought about you too..." I didn't know why but I just started crying again.
"Hey, hey, I'm here now... and I'm sorry that you had to go through all that... Without me."
"No. I'm not... You leaving was a miracle in disguise."
"Why would you say that?"
"Peter... How are you not questioning the numbers I've given you? I'm thirteen hundred years old."
"I thought it was because you were a Narnian..."
I shook my head. "I'm only half human, I'm also half Jinn like the white witch... Which means I live a long time... that's how Robin was able to rule so long and that's why I'm realizing how much of a good thing it was for you to leave... Because you're human... I'm glad I got to spend the fifteen years with you because if I had to watch you age... You get older while I still looked eighteen... I think it would have almost been worse..."
"But I'm here now... and if I can help it I'll never leave you that way again..."
I rested my head on his chest.
"I missed you... I don't know how I got through it." I whispered.
"Because you're strong..." He whispered back. He was playing with my hair again. "You cut your hair..."
"I had to." I chuckled. "I had to do a lot of running recently."
It was no longer all the way down to my feet. It was a few inches below my shoulders. I cut it myself with my dagger.
"I hope you'll never have to go through another twelve hundred years like that."
"Your highness! It's urgent." A faun called.
Peter looked down at me.
"Duty calls." I smiled touching his face. "After all this time... I will still always believe in you."
"That's all I could ask for." He smiled as he leaned down and kissed me.
