AN: I used a random school name generator for the school name

AN #2: please tell me if I got the definition of demigirl wrong!

Chapter 9:

"You excited for you first day of school Willa?" Libby asks as we eat breakfast. I got discharged from the hospital a couple of weeks ago, and the doctors said it's fine for me to go to school.

Luckily, the first Monday that I'm not in the hospital lines up with the first day of school. "Yep!" I say. Jess smiles and sits down next to us with her breakfast. "Willa, I'm driving you to school today. We have to get there early though, so be ready to leave in about 10 minutes, ok? Some kids have volunteered to show you around and stuff." "Mkay," I say, grabbing my crutches (I broke my leg) and go get my backpack. I rummage through the back of my closet, in a little loose part of the wall, where I hide all my LGBTQ+ stuff. I take out a little lesbian pin. Might as well take it.

"Welcome to our school Willow! I'm Principal Smith. 2 students will be showing you around. This is Quinn," she gestures towards a girl with black hair, in space buns, with a streak of purple in her hair. "And this is Harper," she gestured towards an African American boy, and my heart leaps when I see he's wearing a pride pin. "Hi," they both say. "Hi," I reply shyly back.

Quinn's POV

So I got dragged into this thing with Harper. We get to show some new kid around. Strange how they're coming in 7th grade. So I'm waiting there, desperately wishing Sophie, me and Harper's other friend, was there, cause I'm bored out of my mind. So then the new kid comes.

And she's cute. Like extremely cute. Cue polysexual panic. So the girl's name is Willow, and she got adopted by the cast of Heathers. I hear Harper gasp like the musical theatre-obsessed boy that he is. But first, before we go on, let me introduce myself. I'm Quinn, demigirl, pronouns she/they, polysexual, and reading fanatic. Harper's a trans f/m, gay, and the biggest theatre geek that I know. Sophie, who couldn't come, is the last one in this group. She's straight (AN: not for long...) sports fanatic, and also a hopeless fangirl.

But back to the incredibly cute girl standing in front of me. "Hi," I and Harper and I both say. "Hi," she shyly waves back. I smile at her and her whole face blushes pink. Her mom pats Willow on the shoulder and says, "I'm going to leave now, ok honey? Have a nice time." Willow nods, and waves. "I'll leave you 3 to get aquainted" the principal says, and also leaves. Willow fidgets, "Um ok, hi, my name is Willow." "Hi!" I say. "I'm Quinn, a demigirl-" Willow cuts me off. "What does that mean?" she asks, and colors when I stop talking. "Sorry! I didn't mean to be rude or anything." I smile back. "It's fine. So a demigirl is, well you know what non binary people are, right?" Willow nods. "It's the same as that, but I identify more as a girl." Willow nods again. "I'm also polysexual," I say, "Which means I'm attracted to all gender, including other demigirls or demiboys." "Ok," Willow says. Harper speaks up next. "I'm Harper, trans female to male, and too gay to function." Willow giggles, which makes her cuter. "Have you watched Mean Girls?" she asks. "Yep!" Harper says. "Oh my god! Me too!" Willow says.

They start a whole conversation about Mean Girls, which really makes me want to watch it one day, so I can follow this conversation.

"Ok, I would love to talk more, but then I wouldn't get the extra credit. Let's get to the tour!" Harper says. "Welcome to Blue River Middle School!!" I say, leading Willow out of the room and into the tour. I have a major crush on this girl. I'm sure I can get her. (AN: sorry Quinn.... You don't.)
