Chapter 14:

(AN: Trigger warnings: d slur)

Willow's POV

The room is silent after the call ends. Deathly silent. Everyone's staring at me, and my mind races. I know that voice. That's my former foster father. And he wants me....... Back with him? I can't go back. He's abusive. He might kill me. But Jess might die if we don't do anything. Then, Elle breaks the silence. "I'm calling the police. Libby, Sunshine, Jupie, and Willow, get hold of everyone possible and tell them to come over." Elle goes into the kitchen, and I, Cat, Jupie, and Libby all frantically text everyone in the Heathers cast.

Barrett turns up first, looking very concerned. "Libby, what's going on?" she asks. "I'll tell you when everyone else comes," Libby replies tensely. The rest of the cast comes, and Elle, who is done with the call, addresses them. "Um, you're probably wondering why I, well the girls, called you all here. We just got a call. Jess's been kidnapped. And the kidnapper wants Willow, or else Jess will....." she stops talking. "Die," Ryan finishes, sinking into a chair. Barrett sits down. "We're not going to let her die. Elle, have you called the police?" she asks. "Yeah," Elle says. "Called them just before you came."

There's a knock on the door, and Jon opens it. The police come in, and Elle explains to them what happened. Libby shows them a recording of the call, and the police look grim. "We'll do whatever we can, Ma'am. Best of luck to your family. Got some real good girls. At least, I assumed you were all girls. Please tell me if I offended you." He chuckles at the surprised and relieved look on Jupie's face. "I have a non-binary bisexual kid myself. They came out to me last year. I also have a straight boy. They're twins." He explains. "Cool," I mutter. He smiles and says. "Goodbye Ma'am. We'll give you updates on Jessica when we can." He leaves, and so does his partner.

I'm back at school. But I can't focus. Every day I'm wondering if Jess is ok. I'm working on autopilot at school. Sophie, Quinn, and Harper try to help, and it works a little bit, but still, I can't focus at all. Kenzie's been bullying me and my group worse than ever, but I see her fighting with Khloe and Kennedy almost every day when I leave.

One day, I'm leaving school with Quinn and Sophie (Harper had a rehearsal), when I hear Kenzie yelling. "Shut up! You're a freak! You're a freak and a dyke! Get out! You don't deserve to be here, with actual normal people! You should be in a school with freaks and dykes like you!" Then I hear Kennedy's voice, calm, cool, and collected, "I'd rather be me than be with you, idiot." and then she walks out of a door down the hallway and notices us.

She waves, and heads over. "Hey," she says. "What was that about?" Quinn asks, gaping at the door she just walked out of. "Just left Kenzie." she says. She lowers her voice. "Um, I don't know why I'm telling you this, but she kicked me out because..... I think I'm bi. You know, I like boys and girls," she tells us. She blushes, and says, "You probably think I'm weird too." I put an arm around her and say, "It's fine. Whatever you identify as is perfectly fine. You're still human, no matter your sexuality, skin color, or whatever people discriminate about people." Kennedy smiles, and says, "I, um, also think I'm asexual. I just, like never really felt that way, you know? I just, you know, pretended to, so I wouldn't get kicked out and labeled as, like, a freak. But Kenzie found out and she... well, you heard." Sophie puts her arm around Kennedy as well, and her hand brushes my hand just a bit longer than necessary. I blush, but shake myself slightly and say, "Kennedy, do you want to hang out with us? We were just leaving,"
