Chapter 15:

A couple of days later

"Mandi, we have to get going!" Barrett says. We're heading to court, and the Heathers cast is going to be fighting to gain full custody of me and get Jessica back. I surveyed my outfit. It's a dark green dress, with short sleeves. The skirt goes down to about my knees, and my hair is up in a bun. I still have some scars on my arms and legs, so we're (by we I mean the Heathers cast and me) are going to try to use that to our advantage. Libby also took a video of the attack, so we're hoping to win this case. I'm silent on the drive to the court. Just thinking about the prospect of seeing my former foster father again is terrifying, knowing that he caused this much pain to me.

Libby's sitting beside me, and she squeezes my hand. "It's ok, Mandi. If all goes well, you'll never see him again." I smile hesitantly and lean on Libby's shoulder. We seem to get to the court in no time, the rest of the cast, and to my surprise, Sophie, Quinn, Kennedy, and Harper. The policeman is also there too, with 2 kids. Beaming, I say, "What are you all doing here?" They all smile back and Sophie says, "We wanted to give you some support!" "And also get autographs from your parents," Harper adds, gazing at Barrett talking with the rest of the cast.

Kennedy rolls her eyes, while Sophie, Harper, and Quinn rush over to the cast, and says, "Hey Willa, let me introduce you to my friends," and leads me over to the policeman's children. "They're starting school here after spring break." "I've heard about them," I say. "So what's your names?" I ask. "That's Avery, and he's Oliver. Avery's non-binary bisexual, and Oliver's one of the only straight allies around here." I wave, and Avery and Oliver wave back. But before I can talk to them, the trial starts.

AN: I have never gone to court before..... Sooo don't quote this

"Your Honor, I would never abuse a child like that! The girl is lying!" my old foster father claims. "Miss Keenan Wynn, do you have any evidence against this?" the judge asks. I take a deep breath, and say, "Yes I do." I show them the scars on my arms and legs, without showing too much skin, and Libby shows them the recording that she has. Desperate, my foster father makes one last effort. "Your honor, that is faked! That is not me!"

Then, something amazing happens. My old foster sister stands up and says. "Your Honor, I have something to say." The judge nods at her, and she continues. "My father did indeed do these things. He abused an innocent girl-" My old foster mother cuts her off and hisses, "Sit down Samantha. She's lying!'' She says the last sentence to the judge. The judge frowns and says. "I have heard enough evidence. My final verdict is that Mr. Foster and Ms. Foster are sentenced to 20 years in prison for child abuse and kidnapping. Miss Foster, you are sentenced to 2 years in juvenile detention. Ms. Wynn will return to her family, and Miss Willow will stay with her new family. I also give Ms. Wynn and her cast members full custody of Willow Amanda. We will give you her birth certificate so you can make changes."

My old foster father is led away by policemen, and Jess, who was sitting next to him, runs over to me. "Jess!" I scream and hug her with all my might. I don't care how many people are watching, I just want Jess back. Libby runs over to and hugs her. Jess looks weaker and thin, but she's here. And my foster father will never see me again. Quinn, Sophie, Harper, and Kennedy rush up to me and hug me. "You did it, Willa!" Harper screams. "Celebration Dinner!" Ryan yells, and we all head out, me holding my birth certificate, reading over and over, Willow Amanda Keenan-Wynn. Not a Foster anymore.
