Niamh's POV
Sighing, I sat up in bed, rubbing my eyes. I looked around my room, and my heart fell. The second guy I'd ever had sex had left me. Guys are assholes, I thought angrily, as I jumped out of bed. I yanked on my clothes from last night and stormed into the kitchen, thinking to grab my phone, but stopped. Jeremy stood in the kitchen at the sink looking out of the window and drinking what looked to be fresh coffee in only his boxers. I must have made a noise because Jeremy turned around. He smiled and walked to me, placing his lips on mine and pulling my body against his.
"Good morning, lovely," he murmured against my lips, rubbing my lower back. "I made breakfast."
Smiling, I sat at the table. "Wow. I've never had someone besides my mother make me breakfast." Jeremy set a plate of bacon, eggs, and waffles in front of me. The smell had my mouth watering and I picked up a piece of bacon. I took a bite and it tasted like the best thing I had ever tasted in my life. "Wow, you're an amazing cook."
He smirked and sat across from me. "Don't sound so surprised."
Blushing, I looked down. "Sorry. You just don't see many males that can cook like this. You should have been a chef instead of a business starter."
Jeremy scoffed. "There's money in being a chef. No way to advance. No challenge. I wouldn't belittle myself like that even if I was forced to."
"Right," I murmured, suddenly feeling awkward. "I'm sorry."
We sat there for a few minutes in silence until my phone rang. I reached for it just as Jeremy did, and he answered it.
"Hello, Niamh's phone, who is this?"
"Jeremy, hand me my phone."
Jeremy continued talking. "She's busy with me today, Tracie. Maybe sometime next week." He hung up my phone and handed it to me.
"What the hell Jeremy? You can't just answer my phone."
"Who's Dillon?"
"Huh?"
Jeremy's voice began to grow louder. "Who's Dillon? Tracie said she'd planned a date for you two tonight. I thought we were together. Guess I was wrong." He stood up and began putting on his clothes.
"Jeremy, Tracie's just been trying to help me find a guy since I got here. I just haven't gotten around to telling her you and I are together."
He turned to me angrily. "Why? Are you embarassed by me? Am I not good enough for you?"
I shook my head, reaching out to him. "No, of course not. Jeremy, I like you a lot."
"But you don't love me. I understand." He yanked on his shoes. I grabbed his arm and he pushed my hand away. "I only sleep with people I love, Niamh." He walked out the door, slamming it angrily.
I sat- more like fell- into the nearest chair and sat staring at the door. What the hell was that? Shaking my head, I stood up. I didn't mean to make him mad.. I picked up the Fischer Murder case and began to read through it again. Where are my notes? I look through all three folders twice, and still couldn't find them. Dammit. Jeremy must have accidently threw them away this morning when he cleaned up before breakfast. I scowled. He should have read it before he threw it away.
At around eight o'clock that night there's a knock at the door. I set down my new set of notes and open the door. Jeremy is standing there looking very guilty. He enters my house, grabbing my face and kissing my lips, hungrily presenting all his guilt and hurt into that one kiss.
"I'm sorry lovely. I shouldn't have gotten so jealous. I'm just afraid of losing you to another." I grabbed his hand, looking up at him.
"You don't have to be. I'm not going anywhere." He kisses me again, lifting me up so I wrap my legs around his waist and carrying me to the bedroom...
~~~~~
The next day I wake up with Jeremy's arms wrapped around my waist and his body pressed against mine. When I stir, his arms tighten and he kisses my neck, sending chills throughout my body.
"Morning, beautiful."
I sit up, yawning. "Goodmorning, Jeremy." I stand up, fully nude, and pull on one of Corbin's old t-shirts that I wrap Heath in sometimes, so he's a least in contact with his dad a little. "You should probably go."
Jeremy frowns. "Go where?"
"I'm going down to California to visit mom and Heath, and I won't be home for a couple days."
"I could go with you."
I frowned. "Don't you have business to attend to?"
Jeremy smiled and got up, pulling on boxers and his clothes. "I have to check with my supervisors anyway. What better way then in person?"
I shrugged. "Alright, if you want."
We finished getting dressed and walked out to my Chevy. Jeremy insisted on driving, and I finally gave in, not wanting to argue with him about it anymore. I climbed into the passenger side and he climbed into the driver seat. He started the truck, took my heand, and headed to my old town.
"Can we stop at Millie's?"
"I thought you wanted your baby."
I smiled. "I do, but I love Millie's place, Please?" It took a couple more minutes of pleading to convince him to pull into Millie's diner. When we did, I jumped out, and reached for my purse, but Jeremy moved it out of my reach. "Jeremy-"
"I'll pay," he stated, holding up his wallet. "Come on." He shut the door and I shut mine. We met in front of the truck and began walking into Millie's.
I walked in and my stomach dropped to the floor. Fear and anger rose in my stomach so fast I almost couldn't breath. "Corbin, what the hell are you doing with my son?"
Corbin's POV
I slowly turned around, my heart racing so fast in my chest it felt like it'd jump out and run away. Niamh stood in the door way, a look of pure hatred on her face, and beside her stood a man I had never seen before. "Now, Niamh, before you overreact, I can explain." Niamh went to open her mouth, but her friend cut her off by walking up to me and grabbing the front of my shirt. He lifted his fist and punched me in the face so fast I didn't even have time to react. I fell to the ground and he got on top of me and continued to wail on me. Everytime his fist connected with my face it made a nasty crunching sound and heat flowed from where he hit. I heard shreeking, but I wasn't sure where it was coming from.
Just as suddenly, the man got off me, and Niamh's face filled my vision. "Corbin? Oh my god Corbin, are you alright?" Her voice sounded terrified and far from me.
"Niamh?'
"I'm right here," she said, taking my head. "What the fuck Jeremy?" I sat up and blinked a couple times.
"I was just trying to help," the man, who I assume is Jeremy, stated.
Niamh stood up, glaring at him. "You didn't have to beat the shit out of him!"
I slowly stood up, and collapsed onto a bar stool. Heath was crying and no one else seemed to hear him. "It's fine, Niamh. He was just protecting his son."
"Exactly," Jeremy said at the exact time Niamh said, "He's not Heath's dad."
Niamh picked up Heath and cuddled him to her chest, quieting him down. "Call 911 Millie."
I shook my head, and instantly wanted to throw up. "No, I'm f-" I bent over, wretching.
Niamh handed Heath to Millie. "Call 911." She walked up to me and opened my eyes. "You look like you have a cuncussion Corbin."
"I'm f-fi-" Suddenly the world went black, and I collapsed.
