Caleb's POV
Three days later I sat in a small room with Corbin sitting across from me. A man from the court stood in front of us reading from a piece of paper. It was Niamh's wishes concerning the house and Heath. They hadn't given up looking for her yet, but they wanted to make sure that her son was taken care of until she returned.
"Alright, so, first thing's first, regarding Dean-"
I spoke up, "He can't go to a foster home. His anxiety is too bad."
The man looked at me like I was crazy. "Foster home? No; no. He'll go with his brother Heath Harvey."
I frowned. "Brother? What are you talking about?"
The man glared at me for interuppting again. "Niamh adopted him a few weeks ago. Did you not know?" I shook my head, and he wrinkled his nose. "Anyway, regarding Dean and Heath Harvey's living quarters, Niamh asked that they be kept at the house they are in now. The person that she would like caring for them, is Caleb Adams."
Corbin stood up. "I object!"
"This isn't a courtroom, young man," the old attorney sneered angrily.
Corbin fumed. "I don't care! I still object! I'm Heath's biological father! I should be the one taking care of him!"
The attorney sighed, his voice impatient. "I apologize for the inconvienence, but Niamh asked for him to care for her sons. So, unless he chooses not to, you have no choice."
They both looked to me, one bored and one fuming. I stood up. "Of course I'll take them in until Niamh gets back. Corbin, it's what Niamh asked for. If we disobeyed her, when she got back she'd hate both of us."
"You mean if she ever came back."
I glared, my face heating with anger. "It's only been three days. She will be back."
Corbin shook his head. "You know as well as I do that after 48 hours she's as good as dead."
I turned from him and left the room. Dean and Heath sat in the hallway, and they looked up when I walked in. "Looks like you boys will be staying with me. Who's hungry?"
Dean jumped down from the chair, and I picked Heath up. Holding Dean's hand, I walked out of the court house, my heart filled with fear. Please, come back to me Niamh.
