Niamh's POV
When I woke up the next morning, I had a pounding headache from all the crying. I could feel Corbin still curled up behind me, his arm slung over my waist and his face in the back of my neck. He was snoring softly as usual, and I couldn't help but smile. I had wanted a morning like this ever since I can remember. The sun shining in through the window, even though there was a curtain there; small birds could be heard singing outside the window, their wings slapping against it everynow and then. I closed my eyes, wanting to stay in this blissful innocence, but I knew sooner or later I'd have to face what happened to my mother.
As if on cue, Heath woke up with a soft cry. He looked up at me with his beautiful gray eyes, a smile touching his lips. He giggled and moved his arms and legs, reaching up to touch my cheek. I nibbled his fingers and he jerked his hands back with a shout of giggles. I was about to shush him when Corbin groaned.
"What time is it?"
I looked over at the clock and sat up, holding Heath in my arms. "Six o'clock."
Corbin leaned over my lap and grabbed the clock so he could see it better. "Six o'clock? What the hell Heath," he said, laughing tiredly. "Couldn't you have slept for, like, six more hours?" Heath responded by crying out in annoyance. "Guess not." Corbin lay back on the bed, his arm over his eyes. I stood up, set Heath on the bed, and pulled on my pants. Corbin sat up again and looked at me as he leaned on his elbows. "What are you doing?"
Picking Heath up, I headed for the bathroom. "Well first, I'm going to take a shower. Then I'm feeding Heath. And after that I'm going to the hospital to be with my mother." I walked into the bathroom and stripped Heath and I down. I climbed into the shower and turned the water so it was luke warm- a little too cold for my taste but just perfect for Heath.
Looking around the shower, there was only Corbin's Axe shampoo, and his mother's Panteen bottle. No baby shampoo. I sighed and used the water to wash him. After making sure there was nothing he could choke on, I set him outside of the shower and put shampoo in my hair. I heard the shower curtain move and I turned to take Heath off of it when I gasped.
"Hey Niamh," Corbin said as he climbed into the shower with me. I covered his eyes with my hands; it seemed the easiest way to keep him from seeing everything.
"Corbin, what the hell are you doing in here?"
He laughed a little. "It's not like we haven't showered together before." I rolled my eyes.
"We were like 8, before I had boobs. Now get out."
Corbin sighed. "Niamh, it's not like I haven't seen it all." My cheeks turned pink and I glared.
I groaned. "Fine, but keep your eyes on my eyes." I removed my hands and he smiled cheekily down at me. I glowered up at him and he kissed the top of my head. After we showered, I made sure to keep distance between us, I wrapped a towel around me. "Heath?"
"Don't worry. My mom took him before I got in."
I pulled my clothes on and jumped when Corbin hit me with the towel. "You asshole," I said, but I was laughing. I grabbed my towel, twisted it, and snapped him in the bare thigh.
"Ouch!" he said laughing. We did this a couple more times until we heard his mom yell, "Alright you two, quit playing! I'm not going to watch this thing forever." That 'thing' being my son. I rolled my eyes and finished getting dressed. I walked out of the bathroom to see Chelsea feeding Heath as he sat in a highchair. She must have saved it from when Corbin was little.
When he was done eating, I wiped him off and put his clothes back on him. I held him to me, and looked at Corbin. "Thank you so much, but we have to get going."
