Niamh's POV

I walked out of the car rental shop with the keys to an all white MINI Cooper. I hated these cars, but it was the cheapest car there. I'm not poor, not anymore anyway, but I still liked to live like I was poor, that way, if for some reason I do become poor again, I still had money saved up and I had a cheap place to live. As I walked to the car a shiver ran down my spine, causing me to shake a little. I stopped and looked around. I was the only one in the car garage, but for some reason, it didn't feel that way. Glancing behind me, I think I see a shadow, but quickly dismiss it.

You need to get more sleep, I thought and climbed into the car. Typing in City Park into the GPS, I start the engine and began driving. It takes me 37 minutes to get there. When I do, I climb out of the car and look around. There are a lot of couples and family gatherings, but no male standing alone. In the email Mr. Marks said he'd be alone, but I only see one person by themselves, and I would recognize that dyed blonde hair and dark skin anywhere.

"Rosalie Fischer," I say under my breath and turn to walk away.

"Ms. Harvey!" I hear her call for me, but I ignore her. "Ms. Harvey! Wait! Just listen to me!" Rosalie begins sprinting and within minutes, she catched up to me. "Ms. Harvey, please. Just hear me out."

I turn to her, furious. "Mrs. Fischer, I-"

"Ms."

"Excuse me?"

"It's Ms. Fischer now. David and I got a divorce." Rosalie's eyes dull a bit. "He wanted me to forget about him and move on with my life and forget that it ever happened, but I refused to."

I sigh. "I'm sorry to hear that." I hope the lie sounds believable. Rosalie's husband is in jail for the murder of her mother. In my opinion, they should have divorced sooner than now. There's a moment of silence before I say, "Ms. Fischer, I have told you time and time again that-"

"My mother's killer is already locked up. Yes, Niamh, I know."

I grind my teeth together, trying to stay calm. One of my biggest pet peeves is being spoken over, and the other is being called by my first name unless given permission to do so, which I haven't given Rosalie.

"Ms. Fischer, I-"

Rosalie smiles. "Please, just call me Rosalie."

I bite my cheek and take a deep breath. "Ms. Fischer, the Denver Police Department advised me that they've already found your mother's killer."

Rosalie's eyes begin to water and she shakes her head.

"No, David would never kill my mother. They were great friends. He loved her, and he knew how much she meant to me. He would never kill her."

"Ms. Fischer, David is the killer. I'm sorry, but you're going to have to realize that."

Rosalie shoved my hand off her shoulder. "No! He didn't do it! Please, Niamh-"

"Ms. Harvey."

Rosalie continues as if I haven't spoken. "Just look into the case. I promise you'll find that David isn't the killer. Just look into it. Confirm what I already know. If you find that David is in fact the killer, than I'll leave you alone and never bother you again. I promise. But, if you find he's innocent, please help me." I turn to leave but her voice, so sure, stops me. "If I'm wrong, I'll turn myself in for harrassment."

Turning back to her, I look her up and down. "You're that sure of yourself."

Rosalie nods. "I know my husband, and he could never have hurt my mother."

Reluctantly, I nod. "Fine, I'll help you. Ms. Fischer-"

"Rosalie."

I sigh. "Rosalie, I'll need police reports and photos of the crime scene and-"

"I already have everything." She shoved a manilla folder into my hands. "Thank you so much Niamh!" She hugged me, and I was too surprised to hug her back. "You'll see. David is innocent."

"Ms. F-" I stop myself. "Rosalie, can you afford to pay me $27 an hour plus the flight?"

Rosalie nodded. "Oh yes, of course. Thank you Niamh. You won't regret this." She turned and started running to her car.

Sighing, I turned back towards mine and held the case file to my chest. "You better be right, Rosalie. I will not have you making a fool of me."

Corbin POV

I stand frozen in the front of Angel Academy. Addaline runs after the 9 little kids, each between the ages of 11 months and 3 years, that had been enrolled. They aren't listening as they run around and throw toys and hit each other.

"Corbin!" Addaline screams at me. "Help!" I can't move, too shocked to do anything.

Suddenly, there's a hand on my elbow and I jump. Turning, I look into a pair of familiar gray eyes. They're duller than the one's I'm used to, but still share a resemblance. Ms. Harvey, Niamh's mother, stands beside me with a smirk on her face, her eyes twinkling with amusement. "Not what you were expecting?"

Frowning, I look back at the mayhem unfolding before me. "There's too many of them. I don't know how to make them listen."

Ms. Harvey chuckles and steps up. "Everyone, sit!" Her voice holds the authority of a mother and the little ones stop in their tracks, staring at her. "Now listen, you're suppose to be listening to these two," she points to Addaline and I, "and if you don't, I'm telling your parents." They look at her with puppy faces. "Don't think I won't." Slowly, they nod and sit down. Addaline nods to Ms. Harvey and then turns back to the children.

"Wow," I breath. "I don't know how you did that, but thank you."

Ms. Harvey smiles at me, and, because everything has finally calmed down, I have time to notice the little one she's carrying. It's the baby from the other night when I saw Niamh. I guess he really is her baby.

"Corbin, this is Heath, Niamh's son." I wave to him and he waves back shyly.

"So, what brings you here Ms. Harvey?"

"Please, call me Beth." I smile, glad that she doesn't hate me for what I did to Niamh. "I was wondering if I could talk you into caring for Heath for about a week."

I stopped fixing up papers and turned to her. "A week? I'm sorry Ms. Harvey, but I can't. I don't know if you know this but Niamh hates me."

Ms. Harvey nods. "I know what you did." I open my mouth but she silences me with a look. "You don't have to explain yourself. I understand that shit happens, and I assume you want to make it better."

"Of course I do. Niamh was my best friend, and I'd give anything for us to be able to at least talk to her again.." I look down.

"Then watch Heath for me. It's only a couple of days, a week at the most."

"Where's Niamh?"

"Working." Ms. Harvey looks at me and raises her eye brow. "So? Will you watch him?"

I rub the back of my head nervously. I want Niamh to give me a chance to explain, but I don't think stealing her baby will help with that. Finally, I sigh. "Yea, I'll watch him for you."

Ms. Harvey's face lit up with a smile almost as beautiful as her daughter's. "Then it's settled! I'll drop him off tomorrow at, say, noon?" I nodded and she turned and walked away.

"What was that about," Addaline asked, walking up beside me with a baby in her arms.

"Starting tomorrow, I'm watching Niamh's baby."
