(Y/n) POV

Tommy was very convincing.

He seemed to speak honestly and passionately, and I know from personal experience that you must be an exceptional actor to fake such a thing. And considering the hostile way he reacted to my presence, I deemed him truthful.

Tommy was very correct as well.

That night, I ventured to my brother's meeting room, shock coursing through my veins as I read over the terrible things kept hidden from me. And then the culprit himself arrived at his own crime scene, resulting in a frantic screaming match that ended in awakening the nearby guards and a slap to the face.

A literal one, too.

And now I am being tended to in my chambers, five women working on different parts of me. One is applying ointment to the various scrapes along my arms and legs from my trip to the forest. I saw the questions in their eyes, but I gave them nothing. Another lady is tending to the burning mark on my cheek, dulling the sting with some magical substance. Another brushes the twigs and dirt out of my hair, pulling it into a loose bun. The fourth is scrubbing away at my skin vigorously, soap suds bubbling onto the floor. The last is preparing new clothes, seeing as my old ones were practically shreds now.

I would have to make sure to up their salaries this month.

They finished up with their jobs, and I sank into my freshly made bed without much reluctance. Fresh tears streamed down my face, wetting the medicines on my face and pooling onto my pillow as I thought through everything that had happened in the past hours.

I tossed and turned, eventually giving up on any hopes of peaceful rest. I strolled over to my balcony, looking out at the night sky and the stars that twinkled brightly. I surveyed the villages in my sight, admiring the rooftops from my viewpoint. My eyes drifted to the patch of unruly woods that stood on the edge of my lands, wondering if Tommy was still there. Probably not, but I had taken off so suddenly and without a second glance. I had no clue where he would be by now.

I sank into a leather armchair that had been worn down out here in the open air. I tucked my feet up beside me, curling my toes down into the cushions. A tear burned its path down my cheek, followed by more. I felt them drop onto my skirts, and I glanced down to see a dark smiley face made from tear stains looking back up at me from my lap.

My gaze snapped back up to the dark horizon, but the night didn't seem so beautiful anymore.

Lots of traveling ahead. Bad has already sworn his generals to me, with a total of twenty-two regiments. Punz and Ponk reside in probably the farthest town from the castle, so I estimate about a ten-hour trip to and from, plus about a day of negotiations to each.

In the meantime, NotFound and Sapnap will accompany me on my journey to meet with to meet Wilbur Soot and his men. I have heard stories and seen photographs, even written to Mr. President himself. But I still must be prepared. He says he only wants peace, but I have heard enough lies to spot one.

He is growing rather desperate for an alliance, and I'm glad to hear that the attacks on his outer rings have put pressure on his shoulders. I am relying on that leading to irrational decisions. I will have to remember to take caution. Netherite will be supplied, along with enchanted weapons and several amounts of apprehension. I have no idea what they have planned.

I cannot take (Y/n). I want to, and it hurts me to deny her of anything, but I must keep her safe. It is only a day, anyways. I will inform her of everything that occurred when I return. Edited, most likely. I know she would not approve of some of my actions.
