Wilbur POV
"Why are we doing this again?"
We were sitting in a small carriage, and the window panes rattled with every small bump in the trail. Which was a lot, considering the gravel and twigs and rocks and bushes. The trip to the Dream SMP was incredibly difficult, and it almost felt as if the road was purposefully hard to traverse.
"We were invited to the Royal Masquerade," Tommy reminded me, as if he had not been doing so all week. Ever since the letter arrived at his doorstep, he has been bursting at the seams with excitement, always bugging me to go to the markets and pick out suits and masks. Now we all sat together on the worn-out cushions, looking out the window and awaiting our arrival.
In the carriage behind us, Fundy and Niki followed on our tail. We didn't have a very big traveling party, only my personal guard Purpled, but he accompanied the coachman outside, seeing as he and Tommy didn't always get along.
"I know that," I rolled my eyes. "Why did we accept it?"
"Because we are going to convince everyone that we shouldn't have to fight!" Tubbo offered innocently, a satisfied smile on his face as he relayed whatever Tommy had previously told him.
"How do we know it is not a trap? What if they are luring us here to slaughter us and take over our country?" I asked, relentless and nagging.
"Will, come on man! She helped us! When are you going to get it in your head that she just wants peace?" Tommy exclaimed, seeming exasperated with me.
I grunted indignantly. "We have different opinions then, I suppose."
"I don't have any opinion. I've never met her," Tubbo mentioned nonchalantly, seeming content to only say a couple of sentences here and there. Tommy's eyes lit up, no doubt with a new argument to prove his point.
"See! We are going to the Masquerade so that Tubbo can form his own, unbiased opinion about (Y/n). And when he sees that she's really cool and really nice, then he can help me convince you too."
I sighed, too exhausted to continue the argument. I leaned back, an uncomfortable fold in my suit jacket digging into my back. "Whatever," I relented.
Tommy copied my actions, leaning back with a cocky smirk tugging at his lips.
"No, no. You did not win this, Tommy," I clarified. "I am just too tired to put up with your bullshit right now."
He crossed his arms, and his smug smile only seemed to grow wider. "That means I won, Will."
"No-"
He cut me off. "What can I say, I'm a master of the words and the blades," He said proudly. "That's how I get all the women! I woo them with my voice and then I..." He trailed off, falling into concentration as he tried to think of what he would say.
"And then he kills them with his sword!" Tubbo finished, turning to me and seeming happy with his addition to the conversation.
"No no no Tubbo," Tommy shut him down with a nervous laugh, shaking his head at his friend. "No, we don't kill women. I would never kill a woman."
The two best friends dissolved into mindless banter, a few laughs here and there. I tuned them out, finding my thoughts wandering involuntarily. I must have fallen asleep at some point, because the next thing I knew, I was shaken awake by an impatient Tommy.
"We're here, Will!"
I sat up abruptly, turning to look out the window and see a magnificent quartz palace sitting majestically atop the hill and looking down upon the surrounding villages of varying wealth. Numerous gardens circled the castle grounds, thousands of flowers of all different colors and kinds catching my eye.
