(Y/n) POV
The man, Eret, strode over to us with their head held high.
I almost hadn't recognized them, used to the crown and cape. But no, the pants and ruffled shirt allowed them to blend in with the crowd. The sunglasses though, that was a dead giveaway.
They offered the same, thin-lipped smile that hid so much emotion. Refusing to meet my gaze, they nodded at Wilbur. I felt eyes boring into the back of my head, glancing to the side and finding Tubbo with his arms crossed. His face was openly perplexed, looking back and forth between me and Eret.
I cleared my throat, determined to figure out just exactly who this man was. "Hello," I greeted with a forced smile. "I'm (Y/n), but you probably already know that."
They turned and looked at me, carefully emotionless. "As in, like, the queen?"
I tilted my head, unsure of where they were going with this. "Yes, that's me. What are you doing here, Eret?"
The man in question shifted back and froth on his feet. The rest of the group had fallen silent, watching the entire thing play out. "Um, how do you know my name?" They deflected.
Okay, so we were playing that way. That was fine, I could act.
"Well, Tommy here just yelled it out, didn't he? Regardless, you are right. Perhaps a formal introduction is long overdue," I picked my words carefully, over-aware of the people around me. I clasped my hands behind my back, rocking back and forth on my heel.
Wilbur stepped in, giving me a weird look as he did so. "Eret is the general of our national guard," He told me.
I hummed, pretending to think. "So how do you know Dream?" I asked, trying to seem casual.
Eret's shoulders tensed and my lips twitched into a sly smirk. Tommy stepped forward, reminding me that he was there. "What do you mean, (Y/n)?"
All eyes turned to me. "I don't know, Tommy. Why don't you ask Eret?"
Eret ran a hand through his curls. "I don't know what you're talking about," They insisted, voice icy and steel.
I raised an eyebrow. "Really? You've never... seen him before? Maybe... talked to him?" I pressed.
They shook their head, growing steadier with every second that passed.
"Never. Hm," I mused. "And when was the last time you visited the Dream SMP, Eret?"
"I-" They started, but Wilbur jumped in.
"(Y/n). Stop it," He snapped, glaring at me. "Leave 'em alone."
I scoffed and took a step back, unclenching my fists. I took a deep breath, stationing myself at Tubbo's side. Eret pushed up their sunglasses, sending a discreet scowl my way before heading off and disappearing through the crowd.
Wilbur huffed and took Tommy by the arm, dragging him in the other direction. I was about to follow when Tubbo grabbed my wrist and spun me around. He looked up at me with a barely restrained smile.
"What's all that about?" He asked, brows raised.
I shrugged him off, trying to catch up to the others. "Saw them the other day, talking to Dream."
Tubbo's hand found my wrist again, and this time his expression was grave and stony. "What?" He hissed.
"You heard me. They're up to no good," I insisted, slightly unsettled by the seriousness in his tone.
"Okay, listen here, (Y/n)," Tubbo snapped, angrier than I had ever seen him. "I know you think you're special because you're some ex-queen and you're staying with us, but don't even-"
He cut himself off, noticing how brash he sounded. "Sorry," He tried again. "I just- Eret's been with us for a long time, and we've been through so much shit together, so it just kind of hurts when you come along and starting pointing fingers."
I nodded, seeing Tommy and Wilbur in my peripheral vision, waiting for us. "I understand, Tubbo. Really. But I did see-"
"No," Tubbo stepped in, not letting me finish. A bit of irritation surfaced on his face, but it was gone just as quickly as it had arrived. "C'mon. We've got stuff to do."

That night, Tubbo retired to bed early. I felt guilty, knowing part of the reason was the doubt I had sowed in his head earlier this morning. But the other part of me rolled my eyes, knowing it was for the best. I was outing a traitor, was I not?
Whatever.
I curled up in the loveseat near the fireplace, feeling very poetic and reflective as I stared into the flames, but really I was just excruciatingly bored. The chair I was in was meant for two, but the only others around were Tommy and Wilbur, both reclined on the matching settees. I didn't blame them.
Apparently, I was the only one itching for some form of entertainment. Tommy turned his head to look at me, eyes blue and glazed in tiredness. "So what was your deal with Eret from earlier?" He mumbled, a question intriguing enough for Wilbur to lift his head as well.
"Oh. Them." I winced, thinking back to Tubbo's reaction. I wondered distantly if he was actually asleep down the hall.
"Yeah. Them," Wilbur prompted, impatient.
I twisted the hem of my shirt around my thumb, refusing to meet either of their gazes. "I saw them the other week."
"Like- In the Dream SMP?" Tommy asked, his half-asleep mind not quite comprehending.
"Like, in the castle," I clarified, invested in the stitching of my socks.
Shuffling could be heard from Wilbur's side of the room, and I saw him sit up in my peripheral vision. "What do you mean, in the castle?" He pressed, voice harsh and jaw taut.
"I mean, they were talking to Dream. I saw them, in the castle, in the general's hall, plotting with Dream. Even called 'em an advisor," I rambled, finally mustering the courage to look up at Wilbur, only to find a smirk toying on his mouth.
"What?" I shot, feeling defensive.
"Nothing, nothing," He assured me, smile growing. "So you think they're a spy?"
I nodded, lips pursed, and he burst into a fit of giggles. I sat back in my chair, confused. Why was he laughing?
"Why are you laughing?" I snapped, shoulders curling in on myself.
"Sorry," Wilbur apologized, not looking very sorry. "I just- that's funny. You think they're a spy? You think I'm gonna just believe that? Good joke."
I scoffed, brow wrinkling in surprise. "I'm not joking," I insisted.
He looked at me, eyes crinkled in amusement, but he only managed to keep a straight face for a few seconds. "Sure. Okay. Good talk," He waved me off, sinking back into the couch.
Tommy laughed along with his brother, but it seemed more forced and heavy.
I turned to him with a glimmer of hope, but he wouldn't look me in the eye.
