Rain pattered heavily off the carriage roof that Mrs Lovett and Toby were now seated in. The sound between them was one of silence with only the clopping of the horses hooves and the heavy skies grumbling loudly with thunder to fill the silence.
Looking out of the window Eleanore watched as the rain trickled down the glass much like her own tears had spilled when saying goodbye to Sweeney.
It hadn't been easy, nor had it been easy telling Toby to pack his things and be on his way with her. He was confused and scared, he didn't quite know what to think anymore. After seeing Mr Bradshaw's dead body laid out in his mums room Toby had been very quite. Neither of them had had the chance to really talk and if Toby were honest he was apprehensive about doing so.
Whatever was going on seemed to be very dark. Something he wasn't sure he wanted any part in no matter how much he loved his mum. There were so many secret and maybe even lies that Toby just felt so afraid of what might really be going on behind the scenes. He felt as if he didn't know his mum anymore and for that he felt empty inside...
Looking towards her his eyes saddened to see a single tear trickling down her cheek as she stared motionlessly out of the window. He saw the way her and Mr Todd had hugged tightly before he sent them on their way and couldn't deny he felt for her. She looked so broken and so very tired recently. Her skin was so pale and her cheeks hollow as if she hadn't been eating. The dark circles around her eyes seemed to become more and more prominent, he couldn't help but feel she was struggling inside.
Whatever was going on and for what ever reason they were leaving so suddenly he knew deep down it was for the best. Toby knew not to push and ask his mum too many questions when she just wasn't up for talking. In time he knew or at least hoped that she would explain, but for now he kept quite not wanting to upset her further.
Suddenly, the carriage stopped abruptly pulling them both out of their seats with a thud to the floor.
"What the" Mrs Lovett was cut off by the sound of some sort of commotion outside closely followed by a gun shot from outside.
With wide eyes Mrs Lovett grabbed a frightened Toby and pulled him up back onto the seat with her. Peering out the window she noticed their driver laying dead on the road. Blood seeped from his body trickling in and out of the cobbled stones, washed away with the rain water.
"M-mum" Toby stuttered completely terrified.
Opening her mouth to speak she was cut off by both doors flinging open either side of the carriage to both the beadle and Turpin!
Gasping Mrs Lovett tried to grab Toby only the beadle had pulled the boy out of the carriage roughly ignoring the boys cries and screams.
"Toby!" She yelled just as Turpin yanked her out of the other side of the carriage and pinned her against her door. The rain patted against her, her hair instantly getting drenched and her skin glossing over with water. Turpin eyed her breasts and the way they heaved over the top of her corset and smiled.
Grimacing at the lustful look in his eyes she tried to shove him off "Get your hand off me" she hissed bravely disgusted he should gawk at her body so freely as if she couldn't see him. Holding her tighter he moved closer his nose brushing hers as he snarled in her face.
"Now now, lets not be dramatic Mrs Lovett" the way her name rolled off his tongue had her gulping anxiously, she could feel her now damp dress clinging to her petite frame and gulped when she felt his right hand touch her hip.
Toby's cries continued but she was helpless to do anything. Within a matter of seconds there was a sound of another carriage door opening and slamming shut before hooves clopped loudly against the cobbled stones and she realised the beadle had taken Toby.
