The morning was meek and hazy through the foggy windows of Mrs Lovett's pie shop. With a warm cup of tea in hand Johanna stared off into the distance, her mind casually wondering off about how Anthony and Toby were doing. You see after she had been saved from the judge both her father and Anthony had discussed a plan on how they would protect her. Eventually Sweeney had to agree with the idea of Johanna being in London was far too dangerous. Anthony had suggested finding somewhere suitable for them to stay for at least a few months until things in London settled.
Reluctantly Sweeney had agreed that it was best for Johanna to be far away from London. As much as he didn't want to lose her again her safety was the most important thing to think about in all this.
So with that in mindAnthony decide to leave Johanna in the hands of her father and Mrs Lovett and set off for finding refuge elsewhere. Toby so wanted a taste of adventure and twisted Mrs Lovett's arm hard enough to convince her to allow him to help Anthony find a place for him and Johanna. She of course didn't want her boy going off into the world just yet, but with Sweeney convincing her also that it would be an idea if the boy kept Anthony company she gave in. She knew Sweeney wasn't a fan of Toby and was far more then encouraging to convince her then little Toby was.
It had now been a week since the pair had set off and Johanna couldn't help but wonder how they were getting on. Most importantly if they were alright...
The sound of Mrs Lovett's boots clopping against the concrete had her turning her head to see Nellie walk into the shop with a telling grin on her face.
Spotting Johanna she stopped for a moment and cleared her throat "oh mornin' love didn't think ya would be up so early"
"Was up most of the night" she replied breezily sipping at her tea.
"Me too" Came Nellies sleepy response that had the girl choking on her drink from the embarrassment.
Mrs Lovett's eyes widened realising what she had let slip and was quick to apologise. "That weren't suppose ta come out...""It's fine" Johanna giggled wiping her chin with her hand before shaking her head at the baker as she went slightly red.
"Whatcha doin' up this early love?" Quick to change the subject Mrs Lovett brushed down her skirts and settled for filling up the kettle then placing it on the stove.
"I'm worried about Anthony and Toby, I know they are quite capable of looking after themselves but it's been days since they left...."
Turning around at this Nellie sighed gently placed both hands on the counter. She had to admit she too had been thinking about those two quite a bit. She missed having Toby around....
"Ya know those two will be alright, they must be developing a plan by now" Nellie could see Johanna seemed to look unsettled and for that she could only send her a reassuring smile. "Chin up darlin" she winked at her just before their attention was pulled towards Sweeney who entered the pie shop.
"Morning" came her fathers gruff voice as he walked in with his shirt half untucked and hair a little tangled more so then normal he made his way over to the now whistling kettle and removed it off the stove.
"Morning father" Johanna smiled over at him yet began smirking behind her cup as she watched him approached Nellie.
Wrapping his arm around Nellies waist from behind Johanna looked down awkwardly as she spotted her father kissing Nellies neck causing the baker to giggle dirtily.
"Would you like a top up?" Sweeney addressed his daughter who looked up to see him heading back towards the kettle.
"No thank you, I think I'll head out for some air" saying this Johanna lifted herself from the booth and picked her coat. "I'll be back in a little while Nellie" Johanna assured her as she tied her coat around her tiny waist.
