I break from his embrace. Who does this guy think he is? How dare he take advantage of me like that?
"What?" He looks almost offended. I scoff.
"Goodbye." I say flatly and run back to the b&b.
Once I'm safely in my room with the door locked and a chair propped up against the handle. I hide out until I'm sure he'll be gone then trudge back to the stable.
I get Dream ready and hop on. I do laps cantering around the ring until I feel comfortable. Then, I head straight for a white bar with red stripes. And we jump. I feel a rush of adrenaline. I love this. I give Dream a pat and we do another and another. I know we're ready for nationals.
Then I remember. Him. As if the fates heard my thoughts, I see another rider zoom past me. I'm not alone in the ring but I know this rider is different. It's Jack. I slow Dream to a walk. Jack comes around me and slows Belle to a walk too. "Hey," he says, "I'm sorry about, uh, whatever that was."
"Please." I roll my eyes, "I'm not stupid."
"I'm really sorry ok, let me make it up to you."
"How?" I scoff, "by letting me touch your abs- no thanks."
"No, no, that's not what I meant. I- I'll take you out to ice cream."
Ooh. I love ice cream. And his eyes are dreamy. NO! Stay focused Sophie, this guy is a dumb jock. Rage at him! "NO. I never want to see your face again!"
"But I love you."
"You don't even know me!" How could he say he loves me? Well he loves me now but he doesn't know the real me. Once he does he'll love me- not!
