The Rebound

I stare through my lover as they smash my heart,
Then call them a liar and make them depart.

I bring out the vodka and drink 'til I'm high,
Fall into a nightclub but can't recall why.

Too much to drink, my head's feeling light.
Recollect the flawed reasons I came here tonight.

The music is loud and I find the dancefloor.
Your eye catches mine and it's hard to ignore.

Confused and distressed, still hurt and upset.
Then you're by my side and it makes me forget.

You found me alone; I find you entrancing.
The music has stopped, but we keep on dancing.

Our lips meet - I desperately want to recover,
So just for tonight, I make you my lover.

But the following morning brings nothing but shame,
You're gone, and I don't think I found out your name.
