I wake up from a deep slumber to the vehicle shaking and jerking.
"What is happening?!" I hear Grace exclaim, looking straight at Jaidyn.
"It appears they have found us. It appears there are about twelve human Mobile Attack Suits three-hundred metres behind us." Jaidyn replies, looking at a console in front of him.
"We should detach and eliminate them, should we not?" I ask,not knowing what we should do.
"I completely agree." Jaidyn replies as he pushes a few buttons on the console in front of him.
Within a few seconds we are all back in our separate suits.
"Same strategy as last time guys." I say as I begin to sprint at the four middle M.A.S. I see Jaidyn veer of to the right and Grace to the left.
As I approach I see large machine guns mounted on their shoulders and a large cannon on each of the human suits arms which begin to produce a large ball of blue energy.
"They have energy weaponry?! Commence evasive actions!" I hear Jaidyn shout.
I quickly begin to dodge the beams of energy being fired by the humans.
I begin to charge the energy weapon within my suits right arm,a small ball of electricity form. I launch it at the enemy, the small electrical sphere exploding on impact with one of the humans shields, breaking the shield along with another M.A.S. shield to its right. I quickly draw my rifle in my left hand and begin to fire, the large rounds quickly turning the unshielded foes to rubble.
My shield suddenly appears and explodes with a blast of energy after sustaining a hit from one of the human's energy weapons. I quickly dodge to the right, only avoiding the next shot by a few inches.
I shoot the nearest human suit's shield with the rifle, quickly causing the shield to dissipate. I quickly approach the large mass before the human can do anything and stab the torso of the metal suit with my suit's large retractible blade.
I feel a great pain in my right shoulder as a beam of energy passes through it,tearing a hole straight through the suit and my armour,my shoulder now red and burnt.
With my right arm limp I can no longer use the energy weapon or the blade. As I turn to my last target I am filled with fear,a fear of death,. I see the blue energy begin to charge within the cannon, its bright light signifying my end. But just before it fires, the light begins to fade.
Both Jaidyn and Grace have buried their blades into the enemy suit's torso, the human inside now definitely dead.
I quickly notice that Grace and Jaidyn have sustained multiple damages to their suits. Grace's suit's torso is full of bullet holes and has a small section of armour plating missing from the left shoulder. Jaidyn has a couple of bullet holes in each shoulder and a large burnt hole through his rifle.
"The temple is just up ahead,we should keep moving." Jaidyn says as his suit begins to walk towards a distant structure.
"Is everyone alright?" I ask as I begin to follow,Grace close behind.
My M.A.S. has sustained bad damages and I have sustained a few injuries but I will be fine." I hear Jaidyn reply.
There is a bit of a pause before Grace replies.
"Same." Grace says quietly.
"Good I say." A small smile forming on my face.
We all walk for about twenty minutes before we reach the structure. It is tall, possibly the size of a six or seven floored building. The door is a massive rectangular piece of missing wall, which is just large enough for our M.A.S. to fit through.
The room is a large and sqaure, the walls made of a brown stone. All the other Immortals are inside, all their faces filled with horror at the damages we have sustained. We all place our weapons upon the hard floor, our suits falling to their knees, the things connected to my back now detach, leaving me free.
The front of the suit falls down to form a ramp to the ground.
I see Jaidyn and Grace now exiting their suits as well, their injuries now fully visible.
Jaidyn's helmet is cracked and chipped, his helmet's visor now looking like that of a spider web.
Grace is holding her stomach, her hands covered in her own blood. Blood is also running down the right side of her face.
I quickly go down the small ramp to the floor,my mind now at ease with the ground beneath my feet.
Jaidyn gets to the ground shortly after me,he removes his damaged helmet to ther side, his face possesed by anger.
When Grace reaches the ground she falls to her hands and knees, coughing up blood.
"Crap." I quietly mutter to myself as I run over.
By the time I get to Grace she is lying on her back with her hands on her stomach, her eyes closed but still conscious.
Victor is by my side now. He pushes a button on his gauntlet and Grace's armour falls away revealing her torn and bloodied black clothing beneath.
"I need you to gently move her hands." Victor instructs me.
I move her arms so they are by her sides. I notice a circle has now formed around us,everyone intently watching.
Victor moves Grace's shirt to reveal the wounded stomach beneath. Multiple bullets have pierced the flesh,at least six.
"The bullets are still inside,we must remove them." Victor states, "Reath, use your shadow to remove them."
I summon strands of shadows that slowly move into the wounds, wrapping around the buried bullets. Grace's face begins to show pain and discomfort.
"Sorry las." I quietly say as my shadows remove the bullets from her flesh.
Victor quickly presses a button on his gauntlet again and Grace's armour reforms around her, keeping pressure on the wounds.
"She will be fine." Victor states loudly, "She will be fully healing with the next few hours."
"Reath,a second please." Harmony says from the circle.
I give a nod and she leaves,I begin to follow. We come to a large stone wall made up of large cogs and wheels with a large yin and yang in the centre.
Harmony places her hand on one side of the yin and yang, indicating for me to do the same on the other side. As soon as I place my hand on the stone the cogs and wheels begin to move at a rapid rate, causing the door to slowly open reveal what is within the temple.
The door opens to a large, pyramid shaped room. The walls are a dark silver and the is a large yin and yang made of white and black marble. A small raised platform stands in the very centre of the room,a small ball of metal upon it.
We all enter the room,Victor now carring Grace. The only light inside coming from the door we entered through.
I door behind us closes, leaving us shrouded in darkness. Not before long I see a blue orb of blue light aboit the size of a tennis ball appear in Harmony's hand and then I notice a small flame form in Jaidyn's hand.
The pale blue and bright orange light show us to the metal orb in the centre of the room.
I reach down to pick it up,but as I do Harmony's voice stops me.
"If you pick that up all your memories will be restored and not all of them are pretty."
I stare at the spherical object for at least a minute. I quickly grasp it into my hand, the orb now turning black with purple veins of energy.
My hand begins to burn, all my memories rushing back.
I see memories of me as a warlord, slaughtering innocents as I conquer. Then there is another memory of me walking through a quiet forest, but the last one is the most terrifying. I see myself fighting Harmony, our swords and attacks of datkness and light clashing together. Eventually I knock Harmony to the ground and bury my sword into her shoulder,a mad grin on my face.
I feel myself return to the real world, collapsed upon the marble floor. I slowly stand, the ball of metal still within my hand,it still black with purple veins.
"Who was I?" I ask Harmony, "who was I?!"
Everyone takes a step back,Jaidyn and Harmony place their hands on their weapons.
"At the beginning of time we were created to guide the world. We were effectively gods. I was the creater, you the destroyer." Harmony begins to explain, "We both began at peace with each other, but after a time, you became board and insane,so you invented war among the humans and decided to rule them with fear. I met you in combat to stop you,I was badly injured but managed to return you to your sane state."
"And shortly after came the war." I say, everything beginning to make sense now, "What about my first memory, the one on the hill?"
"You used all of your energy in one attack to let all the Immortals escape. The massive exertion of energy caused your body to effectively reset." Harmony explains.
I look to the ball in my hand,it still pulsing with my power.
Harmony approaches me,place her hand upon the the ball of metal.
The ball begins to float from our hands to the centre of the room where it begins to spin, the surface becoming a swirl of bright blue and purple. It explodes in the centre of the room, causing the marble floor to crack and crumble, opening up to a dark abyss below.
I feel the ground below fall away and the dark pit consume me.
