It was raining so much. Tinyslip9 could nearly see in front of her own paws. After the Gathering, Frogsplash convinced her that they should seek shelter away from the clans.
"I've lost my mate and I can't lose you too. We have to go, Tinyslip," she could see the despair trapped in his eyes.
"Alright, I'll go," Tinyslip agreed.
"What about me?" Brackenpaw stares at his mentor. "You can't leave!"
"It isn't safe here, Brackenpaw. I must leave but I'll be back before you know it."
"Wait, Tinyslip," another voice called out to her. The gray and white she-cat turned to see Fernstep padding over to her. "Please take Brackenpaw. I want him safe too. I must stay here with Flamestar and my unborn kits. You'll protect him, right?"
"I promise there won't be a scratch on him."
That was how they ended up here. As they were on their way to the Twoleg place, the rain began to pour down. The water was now up to Tinyslip's feet.
"This must be what Morningclan feels like," Frogsplah grumbled.
"We're not too far now," she reassured him.
"Will we meet kittypets there?" Brackenpaw asked.
"We might run into a few of them."
As they neared the Twolegplace, they were better sheltered from the rain. They found a hole carved out in an abandoned Twoleg nest and curled up inside to dry off.
"If it wasn't raining, we could've gone out to hunt, but they are also curled up in their own nests," she sighed.
"We'll be fine for now. We must hope it will clear up soon and give us time to hunt. A little water couldn't hurt us if we need to go out while it is raining," Frogsplash said. He laid down near the corner of the Twoleg nest.
"The water was at our feet," Tinyslip told him. "I don't think it will go away anytime soon. I'll go out now and see if there is anything."
"Tinyslip, you can't. What if you get lost?" Her father's head sprung up.
"I won't take long. I promise I'll be back soon."
"Just see if the rain will hold for a little bit longer." She sighed but agreed. She padded over to join him and Brackenpaw stood near the entrance, looking out at the pouring rain.
"Has it ever rained this much?"
"Not as long as I've been alive," Frogsplash meowed. "Maybe the elders would have known something. The stories get passed down from generation to generation."
"I wonder if other clans cats are here too?" Tinyslip wondered.
"I know we aren't the first ones to leave. We could also look around when the rain stops for a little bit."
