Honeysong sat on the side of the cave

Honeysong sat on the side of the cave. Ever since Juniperslash was blown away in the wind, Curlstar has been taking more caution against the storm. They were even pushed together more closely so the cats at the cave entrance could be better protected.

"Curlstar, we can't do this," Grayspot told the leader. "All of us are terrified and aren't eating hardly anything. Larkfeather has already died from hunger."

The elder, Larkfeather, had just died earlier that morning. Mouseshine told everyone that the she-cat must have died from hunger. There weren't any other causes that would have happened to the old brown and black she-cat.

"Would you just rather me send out warriors to be blown away in the winds?" Curlstar hissed at the senior warrior. "I have all my clanmates to look after. I would rather them die here with their clan than away in the cold winds."

"This cave is too small. We can't stay here much longer."

"Uh... Curlstar," Heatherheart stepped over to the bickering cats. "I would like to go out and find a new place to stay. I don't want to risk any more clanmates dying."

"No, you can't go and nobody will. We're staying here," Curlstar lashed out her tail.

"Please, having a better place that every cat would be happy with wouldn't make things a little bit easier. I would stay out long and if the winds get too strong, then I'll take cover underneath something. Just let me fulfill my duty as a deputy."

Curlstar sat there and thought for a while. Heatherhear was always ready to risk her life for her clanmates. It was what made the she-cat such a great deputy.

"Alright, you may go. Please be back before moonrise."

Heatherheart dipped her head and was just about to go out. Honeysong came running over to the group, stopping her in her path.

"I want to go too," Honeysong said. "I already know how the storm is going to be. I should help Heatherheart through the winds."

"No, I can't let another warrior go," Curlstar said.

"I can't allow you to go either," Dustywing came over. He rested his tail on her back.

"I must go. I've seen the storm way before any other cat."

"It would be a higher chance of us making it back, Curlstar," Heatherheart said.

"I don't want to say it, but I have no choice. Honeysong may go."

Honeysong bounced around on her feet. Dustywing wasn't happy with the decision but didn't want to argue with the leader's word. He just licked the top of her head and asked her to make sure that she'll return in one piece.

    "I promise," Honeysong agreed.

The two she-cats carefully crept out of the cave. They made sure to stay along the sides of larger objects, like trees or rocks. Cottenclan hasn't really explored much in the base of the mountains. They weren't too keen on walking all over the rocks and scratching the bottom of their paws.
