Honeysong crouched down and began to stalk the mouse that was nibbling at the ground ahead of her. She made sure to step lightly as she came closer. Making sure her paws were ready to leap. Honeysong flew through the air and came down right on top of the mouse. She had it in her mouth as she killed it swiftly.
"That was some fine hunting," Dustywing said as he popped out of the bushes.
"I've hunted many times before. You've seen me also when I was an apprentice. Frostpaw and I normally trained together," Honeysong remarked.
"I know. I just wanted to compliment you." With that, the black tom padded away in the bushes.
Frostpaw popped up next to Honeysong. "I think he likes you. He is making it very obvious."
"I don't think so. He just complimented me, nothing else." She took the mouse and went off to uncover the rest of her prey she previously caught.
"He's been my mentor for a while now and I know he's never acted like that around any other cat before." The white she-cat popped up again.
"I still don't think he likes me."
"You should give him a chance."
"Frostpaw, I've just become a warrior and you're asking me to become mates with your mentor. My focus now is on my duties and not to be pampered by some tom."
"Think about it for later on." She trotted ahead of Honeysong with her tail dragging behind her. Is she upset that I wouldn't ask Dustywing to be my mate? She'll understand when she's a warrior. She only has a couple of moons before then.
Honeysong padded into camp. She dropped her prey in the freshkill pile. She saw Barkpelt off on the side talking with Pouncemist. She felt a hiss rumble in her throat. She turned her head not wanting to look at him.
"Can we please learn some battle moves now? I'm ready to Meadowclan warriors anytime," the little tortoiseshell apprentice meowed. Featherkit and Marigoldkit had received their apprentice names. Amberwish was mentoring Marigoldpaw while Spiderspot was mentoring Featherpaw.
"You don't even know how to hunt properly. How can you expect to defend your clan if you can't feed them?" Spiderspot growled at Featherpaw.
"I caught a shrew this morning."
"After missing the previous two catches. We can go out tomorrow only if you prove to me that you can feed your clan. I want enough prey to feed the elders." She nodded confidently as the two padded out of camp.
"Honeysong, have you seen my new siblings?" Mintpaw comes rushing over.
"No. Kits aren't really for me," she replied.
"Come on." Mintpaw pushed the cream warrior over to the nursery. Last night, Squirrelskip kitted three little kits. "This she-cat is Sweetkit and the two toms are Thistlekit and Emberkit."
