Pinepaw day has been long with training. He was exhausted. He dragged himself into camp. Cloverpaw was just entering the apprentices' den. He trotted over after her.
"You're back, Pinepaw," she meowed as she settled herself down into her moss bed.
"Stormwhisker had me training all day. I hardly had time to rest," he told her.
"I feel you. Birchclaw was especially hard today. He would yell at me for slacking off for a little bit. I was just taking a breather."
"I just want to rest tonight. I hope it will be easier tomorrow."
As the two nestled into their nests. Tanwypaw and Snowpaw padded in with Sandypaw following close behind them. Everyone looked tired from training. All the mentors were being hard on them recently.
Pinepaw flicked his tail over his nose and closed his eyes. He hoped that his sleep would be peaceful.

Last night was all in Pinepaw's favor. He slept so beautifully that he didn't want to wake up. Snowpaw had to drag him out of the den.
Pinepaw followed Stormwhisker through the forest. He let out a huge yawn as they stopped in the clearing.
"Wake up, Pinepaw!" Stormwhisker scowled at him He quickly straightened up.
"Why are you suddenly so harsh? You weren't like this before," Pinepaw hesitantly asked.
"You might not remember because last time you were a small kit, but Morningclan has an apprentice contest whenever there are new apprentices. I'm working you hard so you can win," he responded.
"We have a contest between apprentices?" Stormwishker only nodded his head. "Since when did we have apprentices' contests?"
"They happen whenever new apprentices have trained for a few moons. All the mentors organize a day when we have them. Some of the warriors will come and overview them as well."
They then started on battle practice for the day. Stormwhisker taught him a couple new moves for him to practice.
"Tawnypaw and Foxpaw will come soon. I'll have you practice your new moves on them."
"Why not any of my littermates? Could I fight the experienced apprentices?"
"You'll have too in the contest so you might as well learn their fighting style now before the day happens."
They practiced a little while before the two apprentices with their mentors, Rowanfrost and Ottersplash, following after them.
"I finally get to see how my kit has been doing in training," Rowanfrost perked up at the sight of his son.
I forgot that Rowanfrost is Foxpaw's mentor. I'm totally going to embarrass myself in front of him today and on the day of the contest, Pinepaw thought.
