Jacks povI had laid Gwen down by the entrance of the remains. She was still shaken up by the close call we had with that Grimm so I decided to let her rest. I told her to stay put as well. If she wonders she might run into the remains of her comrades.
Jack: now to decide what to do with you.
I stood before the colossal remains. The dragons bones hummed with magic.
Jack: I thought you were all out of juice but it seems you had a bit of reserves left.
I can't just leave the remains here unchecked. Especially now that I've seen the footage. If other people know if it's existence then it will be sought after. I have to destroy it without taking myself with it.
Jack: what am I supposed to do old one?
I placed my hand on the bones and I immediately felt something strange. My magic was being consumed by the bones. I pulled my hand back and stared at the bones. The magic it consumed glowed a soft orange. The glow slowly traveled sleeper into the bones. I decided to follow the glow and walked into the massive jaws. The glow traveled down the mouth and then the spine. I walked deeper into the dark remains. The remains were much larger then I had originally thought. The further I went the bigger the bones grew.
I eventually arrived at the rib cage where darkness was thickest. The glow had slowed down and looked as if it stopped. that's when it started to move down towards the ground. At least that's what I thought until I realized it was following some sort of structure down. Then the light sunk into the structure and I couldn't believe what I saw.
Jack: it cannot be.
A heart. There in the midst of the dark rib cage of a long forgotten beast was a heart. It started beating as the magic sunk deep inside it. Each time the heart flexed I could hear the blood begin to flow. With each thump of blood it grew louder until all I could hear was the sound of a ocean of blood. That's when I heard it.
Among the flowing blood and the flexing of the heart I heard a voice. It felt ancient and powerful. The voice filled my head and spoke.
Are you the one who has rekindled my soul?
I spun my head around searching the darkness.
jack: whos there?
the voice appeared again only this time it voice was much louder and demanding.
I wont ask again human.
Jack: I don't know. Who are you?
The voice chuckled.
I am the very being you now stand inside. I was once a dragon just like you.
I stood stunned at the voice's claim. I hate to admit this but this is the first time in a very long time that I've felt truly afraid. There's never been a true recording of someone encountering a dragon let alone living long enough to speak with one. It wasn't even an actual thought that they might have the capacity to speak let alone understand our languages. But this thing wasn't even alive. right?
jack: once? what does that make you now?
dragon: I am merely the last remaining magical force of my former self. It seems you have unknowingly rekindled my very being and doing so you have also set my final wish into motion.
jack: what is this so called wish?
dragon: to pass on my lineage. my life ended long ago and I suspect my kind has long been extinct by the looks of the worlds magical supplies.
