Night had begun to creep in over the hills. I had been training the girls for hours now. Ruby had been rather difficult to teach simply because she can't throw a punch. We were wrapping up for the night when ruby asked me to teach her something.

Jack: you want to learn what?

Ruby: you know! That punch you did early!

Jack: I don't think your ready to try that let alone train for it.

Ruby: why not?

Jack: you don't have the strength to handle it that's why.

Ruby: you mean it's that hard to do?

Jack: it's not just hard. It took me a long time before I was able to master it. Why don't you learn to throw a punch first?

Ruby: fine. Can you at least demonstrate it?

Jack: (sigh) your not going to leave me alone until I show it are you? Fine but only this one time.

I walked over to a tree that seemed to be dead and took a stance. I placed two fingers on the tree bark and took a breath. In an instant my body flexed, moving on its own. My fist connected with the bark clearing out a small circle revealing the the wood itself while the back of the tree blew out.

Ruby: woah!

Jack: there. Now let's get you four ready for the night.

We both returned to the camp fire that yang had previously set up to find the girls huddled around it.

Jack: you brought sleeping bags right?

Yang: yep.

Blake: of course.

Ruby: oh yeah!

Weiss:......

Jack: you've got to fucking kidding me.

Weiss:.... look-

Jack: I don't want to hear it. I've got one you can use.

Weiss: thanks......

Ruby: what about you? Do you have something to sleep in?

Jack: yeah. My car.

Blake: how come we're sleeping outside and you get to sleep in your car?

Jack: because I said so. I'm kidding. Truth is I'm leaving you four here for the night.

Girls: what!

Jack: I've said it before and I'll say it again. You girls are loud. Look just relax for a moment ok?

Weiss: you can't just leave us stranded out here!

Jack: relax! Let me explain!

The girls flinched at my voice. It's getting harder to control my emotions. If this keeps up I might end up doing something I'll regret later.

Jack: look just listen. Your not the only reason I'm out here. Remember how I told you about my family? Well tonight's the night of their anniversary. I'm planning on driving up there and paying my respects. Then in the morning I'll come back.

The girls were silent until ruby stepped forward.

Ruby: we understand. Just don't leave us stranded ok?

Jack: thank you. I'll try not to. I'll leave as soon as you four are set for the night.

Ruby: sounds good. I'm pretty sure we'd be ok for tonight but I'll take your advise just to be safe.
