"That didn't go very well," Hazel said uneasily as she walked through the narrow aisle. "Let's just be glad that they left... for now. There was probably no way we could've taken them on..."
I sighed and mussed my hair as everyone got the mental message. We need to get out of here and find Magnus.
We all halted into silence for the seconds that felt like an eternity when Thalia mumbled with dread in her voice, "What about we ride on parachutes? Piper isn't here to charm speak, Frank isn't here to shapeshift into a dragon or something, and Jason isn't here to fly. And as much as I hate that idea," she winced, "it's probably the only way out without forcing the pilot to land."
"Uhh... Hello? I can shadow travel!" Nico said in a flat tone.
"You can do your thing on a flying machine 31000 feet in the air?" Thalia asked in surprise, jerking her head back. (A.N. I'm not sure if Nico can shadow travel to a place he's never been to or seen, so please just stick with what I have :) )
"Huh," Nico frowned. "Maybe?"
Hazel instantly gripped Nico's hand to support him as Thalia and I glared at each other before snidely and carefully wringing our hands together, creating a chain between all of us.
I squeezed my eyes shut before Nico shadow traveled and darkness swallowed over us. The experience was terrible, as always, and felt like your skin was going to fall right off. But in an instant, before I could even think of the feeling, we popped into another place where loud chattering and laughing could be heard. I slowly opened my eyes to see a homey-like place with many rifty buildings scattered on both sides of the road. Many people with pointy hats and bags in hand were walking around and into the shops or the restaurants. You could see small lights twinkling in every building and children gathered all around some type of broomstick. I think.
"Why are they wearing pointy black hats?" Nico said without thinking, pointing to a girl with orange-red hair.
"Well, it's obviously because they are witches and wizards!" Thalia rolled her eyes.
"They could've worn something else besides that! Like- A magician's hat or something," Nico shooted back. "Pinecone GRACE!" he added, chuckling lightly.
Thalia's face turned as red as my shirt in anger before screeching, "YOU-YOU! YOU! DEATH BREATH! YOU'LL REGRET SAYING THAT!"
Nico evilly stalked away, laughing, before turning into a full sprint with Thalia running like lightning on his heels. This guy really does have a death wish.
"I guess we should follow them before either of them ends in the hospital," I commented casually, jogging toward them with Hazel by my side.
As I got closer, I heard a victory shout ringing through the air and a small crowd clustering around something. We squeezed our way through the mass of people who were gasping, some rudely glancing at us, before entering the small circular space where Thalia pinned Nico down to the ground and was ready to punch his face repeatedly.
Sighing, Hazel stepped in the middle of the fight and pried them apart before chiding them about the commotion that they have caused.
"Welp! Nothing to see here!" I yelled, shooing the crowd away as most people went back to what they were doing.
"Hey, Percy!" A voice came from the left.
I swerved around to see Magnus jogging toward us, pushing through the people who were still lingering, with a girl wearing a hijab who I didn't know, Alex, and a boy who had spiky, pale hair and pale skin. Since the summer I helped Magnus with his swimming and boat stuff, we haven't really got in contact.
