Ollie and Jack are like two peas in a pod. They have been best friends for years, and Jack was the first one Ollie told about being genderfluid. He responded by telling Ollie that he is so proud and so happy for them and made sure to make an effort in asking Ollie what pronouns they were using that day. Ollie was the first person he had met who used non binary pronouns and whos pronouns changed, so it was a learning experience for Jack, but it was worth it to make his best friend feel comfortable to be themself around him. Which is why Ollie was next to be added into the relationship.
It started when Tyson had noticed that Jack sometimes seemed like he was closer to Ollie than to him, and he tried to not let it bother him because he knew the two of them were best friends and that's why they are so close. Unfortunately, it bothered him anyways.
Jack was confused. Tyson was being strange and seemed maybe mad at him, but he wasn't sure. He doesn't know what he did wrong but is also kind of afraid to ask. And to add onto the confusion, his feelings for Ollie might be changing. Ollie is his best friend, and he loves him so much, but that's kind of the problem. He loves Ollie, but it doesn't make sense because he is in a wonderful relationship with Tyson and is very happy that the two of them are dating. He loves Tyson very much and does not at all want their relationship to end. The problem is that he loves Ollie as well. He always has, but what they have doesn't feel like enough anymore. He isn't sure what to do but something has to happen because continuing on like this isn't going to work.
Jack brings it up to Tyson a few days later and asks if there was something wrong or if he did something to upset him. Tyson's initial reaction is to deny that anything is wrong, but one look at Jack's sad and insecure face changes his mind. They both go and sit down, and Tyson brings up his concern with how close Jack is to Ollie and the fact that he's been a bit jealous over it. He apologizes and says that he will get over it and he knows that the two of them are friends and nothing else. At this, Jack interrupts. He confesses that his feelings for Ollie might be changing and that it kind of scares him. But he loves Tyson so much and assures him of such. He tells him that he is very happy in their relationship and will just have to find a way to move past these feelings and get back to the way they were.
Now Tyson is the one that is confused. He was right about Jack having feelings for Ollie, but he is not sure why Jack seems so sad about it. He is also both sad and a bit angry because he doesn't want to lose Jack, but also does not want to be in a relationship where Jack is pining over someone else. During their conversation Tyson goes straight to the point and asks Jack what he wants and who he wants. This results in Jack blurting out that he doesn't know what he wants and he can't choose because he loves both of them, and why does he even have to choose when he just wants both.
This leaves them both a bit shocked and unsure where to go from here.
Jack ends up crying because he thinks he has ruined everything and he doesn't want to lose Tyson, but he also is not sure if he can go back to the way things were with Ollie. Seeing Jacks tears, Tyson pulls him into a big hug and tells him that everything is going to be alright and that they will figure it out. They decide to give it a few days and to both really think about what they want and then go from there.
A few days pass and both guys have been doing a lot of thinking. Jack is really not sure what to do but is thinking he's just going to have to get over Ollie and stay with Tyson and that way no one gets hurt, well except for him but he thinks this is all his fault so its fine if he does. Tyson has been a but more thorough in his thinking and was trying to find a way that they could both be happy and possibly include Ollie into this somehow if she wants to join the two of them anyways. In searching for this, Tyson discovers the term Polyamory, or what could be the solution to their problems. Tyson likes Ollie very much as well. they are good friends and get along quite well. He had never considered being in a relationship with a third person before, but when reading up on it more it actually sounds pretty nice. There are certain forms of polyamorous relationships where he would just let Jack date the two of them separately, but that does not sound very appealing so if Ollie gets involved its going to have to be with the two of them
The two of them discuss this later that evening. Jack is a big ball of nerves and looks like he is going to cry, while Tyson is being really quiet and seems distracted. Jack starts to tell Tyson that he just wants things to go back the way they were and for the two of them to continue dating. Tyson quietly stops him there and says that he may have found a solution to their situation. He starts by telling Jack about polyamory and the different kinds there are. He makes it very clear that he isn't sure if this will work and they both have to be on board before they even consider bringing it up with Ollie. Jack is hesitant to admit that he wants this, he doesn't want to hurt Tyson by implying that he is not enough for Jack. Tyson assures him that he knows its not Jacks fault and he wouldn't have brought up this idea if he wasn't willing to give it a try. They decide to give it a few days and to make a plan if they both end up wanting this.
The next day Jack tells Tyson that he wants to try having Ollie join the two of them. They sit down and discuss what they would and would not like in this relationship. Once that is settled, they decide that they will have to approach Ollie and will have to see what they think about joining the two of them.
Jack and Ollie were snuggled up on the couch when Tyson came home. Emma was still at work. Tyson goes and sits down next to them. Jack tells Ollie that the two of them wanted to talk to them about something. Ollie immediately is worried that something is wrong, and Jack and Tyson are quick to assure them that its nothing bad, or at least they hope not anyways. After a bunch of stumbling around it's Jack who ends up asking Ollie if they would consider joining their relationship. Ollie was quite surprised, but mostly because they could not believe that the two of them could possibly want them. That being said, Ollie is also quite flattered that the other two seem to want them. They are a bit hesitant to agree right away, because dating two people at once might end up being a lot and they don't have a lot of dating experience in the first place. Tyson assures them that they will all take it at a pace that all three are comfortable with, because this is new to all of them. Ollie agrees to try out going on a few dates with them and seeing how it goes from there. All three of them are very excited and end up cuddling on the couch with ice cream in celebration.
