The red-winged woman swooped down and started screeching. Nancy and I covered our ears. The screeching sounded like nails on a chalkboard, or like that time May and Lucas banged metal against the wall repeatedly for....something. Don't ask.

Miss Red Wings swung her scythes at us and I narrowly made it out of her reach. Nancy, however, wasn't very lucky. The creature scooped her up in her hands and started flying away. I drew my sword and started swinging at it, but I kept missing it. My partner struggled to escape the woman's grasp, but she wasn't very successful. In fact, she made things worse for herself. Miss Red Wings dropped Nancy from about the height of a tree, and she screamed and tried to adjust herself in the air so that her landing would be softer. "CASSANDRA! DO YOU NOT SEE ME FALLING HERE? HELP!!"

I ignored her and focused on Miss Red Wings. I know that might sound like a bad partner, but this thing was about to slash me in half, or pick me up and drop me like she did to Nancy. I climbed halfway up a tree so that I would be the same height as the red-winged creature. I aimed and threw my sword at her head, and my weapon sliced her vertically. That resulted in her guts spilling out. I tried not to gag and climbed down the tree. When I landed, I thought of Nancy. I looked around until I found her, her claws wrapped around the tree as she slid down from it. She walked over to where I was standing with a scowl on her face. I rolled my eyes at her and went to where the monster's guts lay and retrieved my sword. I bent down to grab it, but something else catches my eye: two tokens made of marble. I pick it up and walk back to my angry partner, the scowl still on her face. I smile. "Look what I found! These might be medallions!"

The scowl comes off of Nancy's face. "Hmm. Maybe you're right. There is one for each of us, and we don't know what they look like. Let's each take one for safekeeping."

I nodded and handed her one.
