I sliced Nancy's arm and she absorbed into my sword again, then I turned to Liam. "So, evil Nancy said something about a void. So I think we should-"

I stopped mid-sentence. "Wait! Void! I remember on our journey through the forest, Nancy and I came across this white beam of light that gave my sword its powers. And, void means emptiness, so the beam is our best shot. Assuming that it's still there. C'mon!"

I grabbed Liam's arm and we headed for the forest, our hopes high.

After searching for what felt like forever, we finally found the temple. We ran inside. "From what I remember," I said, "The beam should be over..." I looked around the area. "There!"

I pointed to the beam of light. With Liam behind me, we entered the beam, and sure enough, we were in emptiness.

Liam and I gaped at the vast space. "Maybe this is where monsters go after I slaughter them,"I muttered. "If that's the case," I said to Liam, "then we need to be really cautious. You start searching, and I'll keep watch."

Nancy's boyfriend nodded and started searching for anything that might help us get Nancy back. "Cassandra! Over here! I found something!"

I ran over to where Liam was standing. He had a small object in his hands. When I got closer, I realized he was holding a pocket-sized mirror. "What do we need the mirror for?" Liam wondered.

I thought for a second. What would we do with this? Point it to something? Break it? Wait...break! That's it! "Break!" I exclaimed.

Liam looked so confused. "Huh? What about a break?"

"Not like a brake in a car! I mean like to break something! When Nancy was tied up in the chair, she said something like 'br-' but she was cut off."

"Do you think it's worth a try?" Liam asked.

I shrugged. This could be the only way to get Nancy back. If this doesn't work, we'll be helpless. "Yes. It is definitely worth a try," I announced at last.

I released evil Nance from my sword. Lucky for me, she was a bit disoriented, so I grabbed her in a chokehold before she could react. "Let g-go of m-m-e!" she wheezed.

I laughed. "Do you think I'm dumb? There's no WAY I'm letting you go," I told her.

I turned around so that I was facing Liam. "Break the mirror," I commanded.

"NOOO!" Evil Nance shouted.

I grinned. "That shout must mean we're on the right track!"

Liam broke the mirror with his bat and tiny shards of glass flew everywhere. I felt Nancy struggling to get free from my grip, so I just held her tighter. I also noticed the color coming back to her face. "Liam!" I exclaimed. "It's working! Look at her!"

I let go of my friend and she immediately collapsed . Liam ran to catch her. I smiled, knowing that we defeated whatever had taken over Nancy's body.

"C'mon Liam. Things will finally be normal. And, that thing that took over Nance will now be stuck in this void for who knows how long."

He nodded and we exited the endless whiteness.
