「Chapter 30」
Like yesterday night Soda had came over again so we could review and discuss what's to be expected tomorrow.
Steve was out at a movie with Evie so tonight it was just the two of us. Unlike yesterday I found it hard for myself to focus. I suppose I was just so worried about how tomorrow would pan out that I was unable to think of anything but that.
Soda had easily taken notice of this. "You alright, kitten?"
I shook my head. "How can I be? Tomorrow can't be anything less than perfect. I can't stand to think that I might have to say goodbye so soon. Who knows when the next time will be that I'll be able to see you again?"
"Then why don't we stop stressin' about it and just enjoy the night for ourselves. Tomorrow may not go as planned, and I'd rather we just enjoy this moment we have together while it lasts." He took my face in his hands and planted a kiss upon my forehead. "What do you say?"
I had to accept the possibility that our plan wasn't guaranteed to work no matter how hard we tried. It only made sense to make the most of the time we had left. "I couldn't agree more."
Sweeping me off my feet he carried me to my room, closing the door behind him. Laying me down upon the bed he took no hesitation in climbing on top of me. Impatiently I pulled him down by his shirt and kissed those lips of his that I desperately craved to touch.
Pulling away Soda had let out a chuckle. "Slow down a bit, darlin'. Haven't even gotten you out of that pretty dress of yours yet."
"I'm sorry, you just left me a bit frustrated from yesterday night I guess. It's not nice to tease others like that you know?"
He seemed unfazed by my brief lecturing. "Not like I could do anything more. Steve was home."
"That doesn't mean you had to work me up like that."
He looked as if he was holding back from laughing. "I'm sorry, but I was hearing no complaints-"
"Soda!"
"It's just us here, Cordy. As cute as it is to see you so shy there's nothing to get so embarrassed over when you're with me."
Tonight Soda held nothing back. Every moment, every stroke and kiss was nothing but intense and full of passion.
I savored every second of it, not wanting to think of anything but him and the way he made me feel.
It was bittersweet. As we laid tangled in sheets we refused to speak on what was to come the day after. Even though I knew that the reality of it all was weighing heavily on our minds now that we were settling down. "We should probably get dressed before Steve gets back." I suggested.
Soda however didn't seem to bother. "He already knows about us and I'm sure he won't mind if I spend the night anyways." Wrapping his arms around me he made himself comfortable. Nuzzling his face into the back of my neck he spoke to me in a quiet voice. "Please, Cordy?"
Steve really wouldn't like this, but I hope he'll at least understand. "At least let me turn off the lights."
Reaching over I flicked the switch on the bedside lamp. Soda had pulled me in closer to his chest tighter than before. He kissed the back of my head lovingly. What we wanted to avoid speaking of for the remainder of the night failed to be ignored.. "Cordy I don't want to lose you. I really wish you didn't have to leave."
"I wish I wouldn't have to either." My living arrangement here is only temporary. Steve and my uncle were kind enough to allow me to stay here this summer and for me to ask to stay for longer would only inconvenience them. Turning over to face Soda I placed my hands upon his cheeks, allowing my eyes to adjust to the dark so I could take in his presence better. "We both know we had to say goodbye sometime."
