What is Meant to be, Will Be

Chapter 2

As I tried to take Lyssa to MRI I got lost, I had never been to the raiology unit of the hospital.

"You're so lost. Last time, when I feel and sprained my ankle, I didn't get stuck with someone this clueless, and that was like a nurse."

"You know you should just lie down, we will find it eventually."

As I went back upstairs from the basement I looked at one of the maps of the hospital as I walked by it. Radiology was on the 3rd floor, the one floor I hadn't been to yet.

After Lyssa's MRI her parents arrived and were scared.

"Our doctor back home said she may have to have surgery. Is that true?"

I froze, I had never spoken to a patients family before, and they didn't cover this part in med school.

"I am not Lyssa's doctor but I will go get him for you."

I was on the hunt to find Dr. Bailey when I saw him, my one night stand in navy blue scrubs, he was an attending.

I ran down the hallway and took a left, and just about ran over Bailey.

"Grey what are you doing?!"

I took a moment to catch my breath, and looked Bailey in the eye,

"Lyssa's parents have questions do you talk to them or do I need to find Dr. Burke."

"No uh Dr. Burke is off the case Dr. Shepard is on the case now, here he comes."

And as she walked away I prepared myself for an awkward conversation.

"Dr. Shepard, our patient, Lyssa Smith, her parents have some questions if you could answer them for them."

He smiled, I think realizing who I was, and decided to go and answer our patient questions, in the meantime I went to the cafeteria to eat lunch.

Cristina, Izzie and Gerorge were sitting with the other interns, I don't know all of their names, but as soon as I sat down I said,

"If I could make it like it accident I would kill Lyssa Smith with my bare hands."

Everyone looked at me, like I was crazy. These days it seemed easier to believe.

"What, I get violent when I'm angry."

We were going back to eating when Dr. Burke walked over.

"Every year the attending on call picks one intern to do an appe on their first day, as I am that attending I have picked George O'Malley to scrub in with me. I will see you at 6:00 for your first surgery."
