The hell was she talking about? Derek went to pick up Dr. Austin Mahone, a fellow nuerosurgeon, so he could help my mom. He wasn't getting wedding rings/ I looked up at mom seeing if she could help me, but she just had a smile on her face.
"You wanted a church wedding, Derek wanted it where I was. I'm here for a few months, probably years, and I want to see you say I do. This is my requirement to staying.
"Mom, I don't even have a dress, his ring, or even a minister or whatever."
"It is all taken care of. My gift from me to you."
Dr. Callie Torres walked into the room with a curling iron and a white ballgown. Damn, I knew my pintrest account was a mistake. Cristina had a lavendar dress for mom and they set out to beuatify us.
Three hours later I had on my dream ballgown and was hiding in the bathroom of my mom's hospital room. Shit! I have to puke!
"Cristina hold my hari!"
Just in time she caught my hair and I heard a male voice talking.
"Derke you're not supposed to-"
I stopped mid-sentence. I turned aroung to find my father, wh I haven't seen in years, standing there in a suit. Good thing Cristina had Callie use water proof makeup because tears were in my eyes. This was a shock, I wasn't sure if it was good or not.
"Meredith, you look, well, I mean, uh.."
"Daddy? Is it really you?"
"Yeah, it is sweetheart."
I slowly moved toward him, not sure how he was going to react. When he took his hands out of his pockets I went for a huh. When he wrapped his arms around me I remembered how it felt when I was five. By this time I was balling and it wouldn't stop. After minutes of Derek pounding on the door demanding to see me did it stop.
"I'm fine Derek. It's your child with the problem."
He laughed, still concerened so it was a light laugh.
"Cristina is she ready?"
"If she wasn't I would be forcing her out right now."
"I'm ready, but for the record, I hate this dress. I can't breathe."
He opened the door and smiled,
"Meredith Grey, are you ready to get married, again?"
I didn't know the priest but we had a nice little ceremony and then got me out of the dress. I was in sweats and a t-shirt when they brought the cake in. It smeel like strawberrys, vanila, and, SHIT! I ran into the bathroom with Derek at my heels. After I finished throwing up we went back into the main room. My parents were eating cake and laughing.
"Now you may still be my parents but I can throw shit at you."
Mom just laughed even harder.
"Karma's a bitch hun. I as as sick as you are when I was pregnant with you."
"Oh, see, its the two that planned the wedding to blame."
"Haha Mrs. Shepard. It's my fault, after all, it was my penis that knocked you up."
Now I laughed. I cannot believe he just said that, and right as Addison walked in.
"Yes it was your married penis."
We all shut up, looking at the anger on Derek's face.
"Derek, I called her. I asked her to look at the baby-"
"Dammit Meredith she is my ex-wife!"
"Yes I know I am Derek, no need to go crazy on everyone!"
"Shut up! Get out! I will find someone else-"
"No! Derek no one is as good as her. Maybe I shouldn't have told you about the baby. You obviously don't want it!"
I went and walked into the bathroom and locked myself in. There is no way this is ever going to work. There is no such thing as a happy ending.
"What the hell did you do? She is hormonal as hell and you cannot just flip out like that."
"I just don't want her near my baby!"
"Meredith let me in,"
This was the sound of my mother's voice. Cristina and Derek were screaming at each other and Thatcher, wait, my dad was silent. I let mom in and I climbed into the bath tub and pulled my knees to my chest.
"Is she really the best?"
"Mom, she is double board certified neunatal surgeon. One of the handful in the world. Just a few days ago I watched her preform a c-section and then save a woman's uterus."
"Wow. She's good. A kick ass surgeon."
"Yeah she is."
"Are you worried about her and him?"
"Of course I am. She's her and I'm me. He picked her for a reason."
"Yeah and then he chose you over her. Sweetie, you can't let her get to you."
There was a knock at the door,
"Meredith, can we talk? I'm sorry I just, I don't know she just, let me in please."
Tears were rolling down my face. I didn't know if I wanted to see him but only he could hold me the way I wanted held.
"You want me to let him in?"
I nodded, I didn't want to let him know I was crying at eh sound of his voice. Mom opened the door then dad helped her out. He came in running his hand through his hair. The look on his face was despair, sorrow, and frustration. I knew he felt bad, but I was still hurting.
"Meredith,"
"Don't. Just don't. I went to her for help with our baby. All I wanted to do was but my mind at ease about birth defects. You just shit it down before I could explain anything. You can't control my life just because of my last name and a ring on my finger."
"Meredith,"
I held my hand up. I didn't want to hear his excuses. My emotions were taking over and tears kept coming. Next thing I knew he was sitting behind me and my face was in his arm. I turned around and let him cradle me while I rested my head in his chest. He knew I needed him and I knew it too.
"I'm so sorry honey. I just didn't know what to say. I don't want to face the fact that she could actually help.
"She is the only one I want."
"Okay,"
We sat there for about half an hour before we got up. I got really light headed when I stood up.
"Meredith, you're dehydrated. You need fluids now."
He picked me up and carried me out of the bathroom and set me in the recliner in mom's room. I fell asleep as soon as he set me down and when I woke up I was in my own room. Mom was sitting right next to me.
"Hey sweetheart, how are you feeling?"
I felt so much better. But, her grandchild needed to puke. She seemed to read my mind because she had the puke bucket ready. She handed me some saltines and orange juice.
"Mom, whats going to happen to my career?"
"I don't know hun, but Richard won't let you fail.
