Annabeth's POV

"Is he really coming? Is he really coming?" Annabeth's brothers called as they ran around her in circles.

"Yes, he is." Annabeth groaned, trying to stop the two from destroying the house. "And please be nice to him, he's having a hard time."

"What happened?" Matthew asked and Annabeth knew she'd made a massive mistake.

"I'm not at liberty to say, but please don't ask him either, ok?" Annabeth begged them.

"Only if we get extra pizza." Bobby demanded.

"Deal." Annabeth replied, holding out her fist, their sign of agreement, much like other people used a handshake.

Annabeth had learned long ago that the way into her little brothers' hearts was with food, more specifically, burgers and pizza, and since she, Percy, Reyna and Thalia had eaten burgers the day before, she decided to order pizza when Percy got there.

"What will you do if dad comes home unexpectedly?" Matthew suddenly asked.

Annabeth was mainly surprised by the fact that her 7 year old brother had used the word "unexpectedly".

"Well, it's not like he's ever cared about me, so if he gets mad, I'll just give him the same energy back." Annabeth grumbled.

"And Percy will be here to protect you!" Bobby exclaimed.

"I don't think Percy will get involved." Annabeth replied, smiling at her brother. "He doesn't always seem like it, but he's smart, he'll know that I can handle dad myself."

Suddenly, the doorbell rang. It was an unpleasant sound, as Mrs. Chase had picked it out solely to piss Annabeth off, but as it was Percy ringing, it sounded perfect.

"Behave." She ordered her brothers, before going over to the door and opening it, instantly freezing at the sight of those beautiful sea green eyes.

"H- hi." She stuttered.

"What, I don't get a hug?" Percy chuckled, smiling.

"Shut up, Seaweed Brain." Annabeth replied, but she hugged him, mainly because it was just about the best feeling she'd ever experienced.

"Woah... he's tall." Annabeth couldn't help but laugh at her brothers' gaping mouths.

Percy knelt down and smiled at the two.

"Hey guys, I'm Percy." He said, holding out his hand.

"We know." Matthew giggled, giving Annabeth an evil grin. "She won't shut up about you."

Annabeth groaned. "Matthew, Bobby, can you please go write down your order for pizza."

"Uhh, you realise we both have dyslexia, right? How are we gonna read that?" Percy whispered as the two boys ran off to get paper and pens.

"Maybe I just wanted some alone time with you." Annabeth smirked.

"Speaking of which, I kinda thought flowers are a bit too cliche, so I got these." Percy said, pulling a small black box out of his pocket.

Annabeth took the box carefully, as it looked incredibly fragile, and opened it, gasping when she saw it's contents.

Inside were two small earrings. Both were a mixture of sea green and grey in a swirl.

"Like our eyes..." Annabeth sighed. "They're beautiful Percy, much better than flowers."

Percy heaved a sigh of relief. "I'm glad you like them."
