Ch.15 Garfiel

~Y/n pov~

"Roswaal." Subaru yelled as we threw open the door to his room, "Let's make a bet with our wish and yours on the line!"

"I certainly did not expect to see you again in this life." Roswaal stated.

"This will be our last showdown." I told him.

"Yeah. We'll save both the sanctuary and the mansion this time round!"

"You want to start over now, when you have me in check, and leave behind the one and only power you have?"

Subaru flinched, "Being able to start over and being able to save them are two different things."

"If you say this is the last time, what is it you want from me?" Roswaal asked.

"If we can save both the Sanctuary and the mansion, you will throw that book away and come with us." I demanded.

Subaru nodded, "I want to make Emilia the leader and I need your help."

"Don't be ridiculous." Roswaal muttered, "Are you aware of the sheer greed of that solution?"

Subaru smirked, "Your enemy has become the strongest card in play."

"Are you ready?" I asked Subaru.

"Yes, let's go." He nodded.

We headed to the Sanctuary and found Emilia sat outside the Witch's graveyard.

I knelt down beside her, "Don't worry, you've got this."

The silver haired girl sent me a weak smile, "Right."

"I'll walk you in." Subaru offered as they walked into the passageway.

I waited outside.

"Were you trying to run away?" Subaru asked Emilia, "You thought no one would find you here.. huh?"

They both sat against the wall.

"Why did you both come here?" Emilia mumbled.

"Why do you think?"

"You're not angry." She finally met his eyes.

He looked taken aback, "Why would I be? I'm not angry, though I did panic a bit."

"You're not angry at me, Subaru. You won't get angry. Why won't you get angry?" Tears built up in Emilia's eyes, "I was selfish, right? I caused trouble for you.. so why... why aren't you angry? Are you not angry because you didn't expect anything in the first place?"

She laid her head on her knees, "You're kind to me even when you mess up because you know it's never going to go right?"

"No! That's not what I think!" Subaru protested.

"Then why!? Why didn't you keep you're promise!?" She cried out, "You and Puck both broke your word and went away. You went away and left me behind. You're a liar."

Tears streamed down her face as she repeated the phrase 'You're a liar'.

"Emilia... I love you."

"Huh?" She turned to him, her teary eyes filled with confusion.

"Night after night, you go rushing into the same damn trial over and over. What the hell is that trial, anyway? It's just the past! Don't keep moping over stuff that's over and done with." Subaru told her,

"Huh? Wha.." she mumbled in confusion.

"When I tried to do it for you, you insisted that only you could do it. So when you low it, that just means you were all talk!" Subaru continued, "And in the end, when your pet and guardian takes off, you abandon your duties and run off to sulk and cry your eyes out? I can't put up with it any longer!"
