Ch.5 Royal selection

Somehow, Subaru convinced Emilia to let us come with her.

When we arrived at Lugnica, the first thing we did was do to the appa stand and buy some.

Then, we walked off down the busy streets.

"If we want to contact Reinhard," Emilia started, "we should probably do to the wharf station in front of the Nobles' quarter."

"Emilia, about the royal selection that begins tomorrow..."

Emilia cut him off, "Subaru, what did I tell you? I brought you here to fulfil your promises and to get you healed. You don't have to worry about me."

"Subaru just drop it."

Subaru sighed, "Fine fine."

He gently patted my head.

We stood at the gates of the Nobles' quarters.

"Well, if it isn't Emilia." A knight with purple hair said, "It's good to see you again. Have you been well since we last met?"

"Yes, everything is basically the same." She replied, turning to talk to him, "You also seem well, Julius."

"The mere fact that you remember me is an honour." Julius exclaimed, "You have only grown my beautiful, Emilia."

He bent down and placed a kiss on her hand.

Subaru was fuming.

Julius turned his gaze to me, "Who's this beauty?"

I didn't reply and just shuffled behind Subaru.

Subaru patted my head and then glared at Julius.

Subaru sat down on a wall and I followed, watching the carriages go by.

Then, I noticed someone with a red dress going into an alleyway, it seemed Subaru noticed too.

I tugged on his sleeve, "Do you think she's in danger?"

He looked down at me, "Maybe. We should go check."

We both got up and headed to the alleyway.

Subaru pushed past the thugs surrounding the lady and pretended to be her boyfriend.

When Subaru touched her, she grabbed his arm and threw him into the wall.

I grabbed my wrist, "Miss, it's not safe here let's go."

She huffed and snatched her hand out of my grip, storming out of the alleyway.

The thugs turned their attention to me, smirking down at me.

I squeaked in surprise, pulled Subaru up and then ran out of the alley.

Emilia came and found us and then we went back to where we were staying.

"Huh? I have to stay here tomorrow?" Subaru complained.
