"Odin!" Frigga called ahead, as the three of us raced further inside the palace.

"Frigga," he responded, pausing in his quick stride. "Go!" He commanded to the group of guards on his tail, before turning his attention to us. "It's a skirmish. Nothing to fear."

"You've never been a very good liar," Frigga retorted knowingly.

"Take her to your chambers. I'll come for you when it's safe."

As he spoke, more guards passed us by. I recognized Sif among them, one of Thor's friends, who'd helped me escape. She gave me a nasty glare as she passed. I knew what she was thinking. Why was I, with all my power, cowering behind the frontlines? Because I was more afraid of what I might do, than what might be done to me.

"You take care," Frigga said to Odin, pulling my attention back to them.

"Despite all I have survived, my Queen still worries over me."

"Its only because I worry over you, that you have survived," Frigga called, as Odin turned to join the soldiers.

Frigga grabbed hold of Jane's arm, and gestured at me to follow after her. With a single glance back over my shoulder, I did.

As we walked through yet another group of soldiers, Frigga removed the sword from one of their scabbards. I frowned as she pressed the hilt into my palm. Then, she reached for another one for herself.

"Listen to me now," she said to Jane, "I need you to do everything I ask, no questions."

"Yes ma'am," Jane nodded.

Frigga turned back to me, talking as she led us to her room, "You're practiced with a blade?"

"Learned from the best," I assured her.

"Good, we'll likely need it."

With that, she turned back ahead, taking us through halls and up stairs until we were safely tucked away inside of her locked chambers.

When we finally stopped, I made my way to the window to see what was going on outside. Thunderous crashes and explosions echoed through the palace, and I was reminded of New York. The destruction and death.

Outside, dark foreign ships clashed with Asgardian ones. Past the water, a mothership loomed eerily. They Dark Elves had come for Jane. For the Aether.

Frigga and I met each other's gazes, and I gripped the hilt of my sword tighter. Suddenly, the walls of the palace rumbled at the sound of a massive boom. They'd begun to enter.

Frigga took Jane by the shoulders, pushing her into a corner of the room, guarded by pillars. "You must hide," she ordered. When she released Jane, she begun to cast familiar magic. Loki's magic. She created an illusion in Jane's likeness.

Jane's mouth hinged open, but she obeyed, cowering behind one of the pillars.

Frigga looked to me. "You can leave, now. You need not put your life on the—"

"I'm staying," I said, raising my sword.

She nodded, smiling. The two of us, and Jane's lookalike, set ourselves in the centre of the room. That is how we were arranged when the doors burst open.
