My head was ringing and I felt hot blood coming from my nose. Aching cold seared my flesh. I forced my eyes open and looked up into Loki's face. It took me a minute to come to my surroundings, both due to my pounding headache, and the cloud of dust that seemed to enclose us. Loki carried me in his arms, following behind Thor and Jane. We pressed on as a group through the sand storm, searching, I guessed, for shelter.

"She's waking up," Loki called ahead to the others.

"We've only a little further to go," Thor called back, "The cave is just up ahead."

Loki nodded, lowering his eyes back to me as he shoved on through the unrelenting wind. Finally, the wind was cut off, as we ducked inside a dark cave. Loki set me down gently against the rock wall.

I lifted a hand weakly to my face, brushing the blood off with my sleeve.

"You summoned a blade, Alivia," Loki said, stooping at my side.

"It was going to kill you," I responded hoarsely, "It cut the line. Killing you is my job, remember?"

Loki smiled, shaking his head, "I suppose watching the love of your life almost die is a good motivator, hmm?"

"Did one of those Dark Elves hit you too hard in the head?" I asked, "I think you may have a screw loose."

"Arrogance is part of my charm, pet," Loki winked.

"He's going to unleash it," Jane said suddenly, pulling our attention. "Not just on Asgard, or on a star—Malekith is going to destroy everything."

"How?" Thor asked, stepping forward, "Jane, how?"

"I saw him on Earth," Jane explained, "Why would he go to Earth?"

"The Convergence," Thor sighed.

"Oh, God," Jane looked panicked.

"The who now?" I blinked.

"The Convergence," Loki explained to me, "The Nine Realms travel within Yggdrasil, and orbit Midgard. The Convergence happens every five thousand years, when the Nine Realms align perfectly, causing the borders between realms to become blurred."

"Jane likely found one of these blurred points when she discovered the Aether," Thor said.

"None of this would have happened if I hadn't found the Aether," Jane cursed.

"I agree," Loki nodded.

"Hey," I swatted his chest and he chuckled at me.

"Malekith would have only possessed it that much sooner," Thor defended.

"I only found it because I was looking for you," Jane said, looking up at Thor.

"Jane," Thor cupped the side of her face.

"Now we're trapped here," Jane said.

"PDA," I called, "I am uncomfortable."

"You're one to talk," Thor shot back.

"Excuse me—"

I stopped talking at the sound of hip-hop music coming from somewhere within the cave.

Jane and I met each other's gazes. "Odd place to hear music like that," I remarked.

"It's not me," Thor said.

Suddenly, Jane extracted her cell phone from her pocket, the source of the sound. Her ringtone. But that meant she had service. But I couldn't see how the Dark World had better service than my apartment back home.
