I padded down the hallway, rolling out my swore shoulder. All in all, not the worst shape I'd been in after a world-threatening fight.
Finally, I reached the room Tony had said would be mine, hoping it was more comfortably furnished than the one on the helicarrier. I'd be staying a while.
As I went to open the door, a hand came down hard on the wall next to my head, and I jumped, whirling around.
I sighed, annoyed, when I met Loki's gaze. I folded my arms as he leaned in, pinning me between him and my door. I tried not to show how his proximity made butterflies dance in my stomach. Tried not to stare longingly at that hand of his, that I wanted so badly to be touching—
I stopped my thoughts before they could spiral and I set my face straight.
"What do you want?" I glared at him, "Pat on the back and a sticker for helping save the world?"
"I want honesty from you."
"Never not been honest with you," I said, truthfully. That same jealousy he'd sported ever since he found out about Steve flared in his eyes, and he released a drawn out sigh.
"Rogers," he began, slowly, "Did you let him have you?"
I blinked, surprised. "What?" I said in between a laugh.
"Did he claim you?"
"Claim me? Like an uncharted island?" I could hardly contain the laughter that bubbled in my chest, "I'll have you know, Loki, that several people have claimed me since you."
"But was he one of them?"
"Why do you care to know?" I asked accusingly, "I've said it before, you had your chance. I'm no longer interested and you have no right to me."
"Pet, I have every right to you," he growled lowly, stooping to speak in a whisper at my ear, "And I thought we were being honest with each other?"
"When wasn't I?"
"You're no longer interested, hmm?" He asked, "Your eyes are telling a far different story, my dear."
A spasm of excitement flickered in my chest, and that tight coil low in my stomach ached painfully.
"You want to talk about honesty," I began, obviously changing the subject, "Let's be honest with each other then. Why did you say what you did to me in the dungeon? After the Alignment."
"Darling, you couldn't be more obvious in your poor attempts to change the subject," he said, as his hand lowered from the wall and turned my door handle.
I stumbled back as the door opened, but he caught me with a hand at the small of my back, as he pushed me into the room and pulled the door closed behind him.
"I'm serious, Loki," I shot back.
His smirk lifted.
"You're very enticing when you're serious," he teased, as I pushed back, separating us.
"So I take it you have no answer?" I asked, placing my hands on my hips.
"I have an answer," he said, "You won't like it."
I stepped up to him, glaring at him with a challenge in my eye.
"What the hell am I to you?" I asked, "You switch back and forth between caring and careless, you reject me and yet you're jealous when I see someone else, you claim not to care about me yet you're here now."
