Decide

Vedant stands infront of a mirror, all that is left is the grand wedding which is still yet to take place.

He recalls Shalini's words before he left the house and is confused on what to decide. His memory takes him back on the time they spent together both the good and the bad ones.

He has become so close to her at heart but Rachna had suddenly come into the picture, the woman he initially wanted to marry, the one who broke his heart.

He clenchs his fists on the table and asks himself why he isn't able to decide, it is meant to be easy. This was the chance he had been waiting for since the alliance was fixed.

He never wanted to marry Shalini in the first place but on getting to know her, he looked forward to their life after marriage and on the other hand was Rachna, the one he chose first.

This was his chance... his only chance to call it off like he always wanted to since the beginning but his heart won't let him.

'What's going on?' he asks himself

Shagird walks in and draws Vedant's attention.

"I've shared everything with you and you with me. You have been the best friend anyone could ever have and I wish the best for you. I don't want you to get married just because aunt Ruchi wants you to but because you want to. I already know what Shalini has told you, Asha told me about it..."

"I thought you were in support of all this love is a fairytale rubbish remember?"

"I know but it all boils down to the two of you being willing to accept the reality that you'll be married soon to spend eternity together. I don't want to hear about a divorce in a couple of years, it won't be good."

"I can't just decide on what to do Shagird." Vedant replies letting his heart out.

"You'll decide just in time. Just remember that whatever you decide I'll always be right behind you." Shagird pats his shoulder and leaves him to his solitude.

Shalini stares at Vedant's name on her palms in the garden, she smiles as she gazes at them and whispers his name as though learning how to say it for the first time.

"You love him." Asha says as she sits beside her but she doesn't answer.

"I really outdid myself today, I made two rangolis, I'm gonna break my record when I make five of them on your wedding day."

Shalini snorts "Aunt Ria helped you with those two."

"You know me too well, now back to what I was saying at first... you love Vedant, right?"

Asha is anticipating an answer "It's no use hiding it." She squeals and jumps around Shalini who begs her to keep her voice down "I knew it, it's pretty obvious."

"Do you think the others know?"

"Hmm... I'm not sure but who cares."

"I thought I wasn't going to fall in love after what Raj did to me but anytime I look at him, I get lost in his eyes. I love Vedant." Shalini openly confesses.

"That's the spirit. Call him and tell him right away." Asha demands and pats around for her phone.

"Are you crazy? Remember what I told him before he left? He hasn't called off the wedding yet but he may be planning to do so, I'm not that desperate Asha."

"Listen to yourself silly girl, he hasn't called it off yet because he has realized that his heart beats only for you." Asha says dramatically.

"Don't be so sure, he may call it off any time but I'm concerned about you. I may not have any groom after him and that may ruin your chances of getting married."

"I don't care about that Shalini. If you don't get married then I'll lose interest in marriage as well then both of us can stay in this house together till death do us part." Asha winks and grabs her hand.

"This isn't funny Asha... mum would have a heart attack if she hears you say this, I'm serious."

"We'll get over it. All that's left is the bangle ceremony and then the wedding. It will all work out, I'm sure of it."
