Rachel was pretty damn sure that Mr. Shue had no idea what he was teaching. Although, she wasn't exactly fluent in Spanish so she could of been wrong. She had no idea who people were in here, but all she knew was that they kept giving her dirty looks. Not the she wasn't use to them, she got them a good amount at her old school.

"Miss Berry, are you paying attention?" Mr Shue asked as Rachel looks at him and nods quickly. He flashes a quick smile before continuing. She must of looked out of it. So she tried her hardest to look interested. Especially since this was the teacher who ran Glee club, and she was curious enough to join. Although her new friend was a good reason, she liked Finn. He was sweet to her. Although, it was her only friend at this moment in time.

The end of class came quick enough, and everyone practically ran out. Mr Shue just looked at them and shook his head with a small laugh to follow. His eyes then moved to Rachel, who took her time packing up her stuff.

"So, you're our new student." Mr Shue states, bringing Rachel's attention to him.

"Yes. Rachel Berry." Rachel smiles quickly.

"Made any new friends yet?" He asks.

"Finn Hudson." She replies and Mr Shue smiles warmly at the name.

"Ah. A knight in shining armour at this school. He's a good guy, make sure you keep him as a friend." He tells her, causing her to smile and nod.

"He... He told me that you run glee club." Rachel says, which gave Mr. Shue a look of surprise.

"Yeah, why are you interested in joining?" He asks hopefully and Rachel looks down at her bag as she fiddled with the zipper.

"I think so. I mean, I've met someone called Santana. And she didn't give me the warmest reception." Rachel admits and Mr Shue sighs.

"Yes, well. Miss Lopez is certainly... A personality. But, she makes up for it in her singing ability and her loyalty to Glee club, even if she tries to hide it."

"What are the others like?"

"Well, it's an odd bunch to be sure. All manners of people are in glee club. But, when it comes down to it, they'll all have your back no matter what." Mr Shue tells Rachel who nods slowly.

"So, do I have to audition?"

"In a sense. I pride myself in making Glee Club for everyone. You'll get in, but auditioning is more to find out your place in the club." Mr Shue smiles. "I mean, if you want, you can show me what you've got now. And if anyone asks, you was just talking to me about the class. I'll back it up." He winks and Rachel smiles and nods, taking her hands off her bag and stepping forward slightly.

"Is there, um. Is there anything you want me to sing?" She asks and Mr Shue shakes his head.

"Anything you want, Rachel." He smiles warmly. Rachel goes through a few songs in her head, before deciding on one, locking her eyes in her feet. She didn't want to see Mr. Shue's reaction until she was finished

On my own
Pretending he's beside me
All alone
I walk with him till morning
Without him
I feel his arms around me
And when I lose my way I close my eyes
And he has found me
In the rain the pavement shines like silver
All the lights are misty in the river
In the darkness, the trees are full of starlight
And all I see is him and me forever and forever
And I know it's only in my mind
That I'm talking to myself and not to him
And although I know that he is blind
Still I say, there's a way for us
I love him
But when the night is over
He is gone
The river's just a river
Without him
The world around me changes
The trees are bare and everywhere
The streets are full of strangers
I love him
But every day I'm learning
All my life
I've only been pretending
Without me
His world will go on turning
A world that's full of happiness
That I have never known
I love him
I love him
I love him
But only on my own
