It was Friday, and there was a Seniors' Bakery Sale on Northride High School. Not much had happened in the last days, so this was pretty much the most exciting thing of the week. And, the only reason it was exciting, was because they weren't having any classes and were leaving school earlier.
For Cody, it was perfect. He was thinking of inviting Melanie to a 'hang out'. Which, in boy terms, it usually means, a date.
He saw Allison passing by the cupcakes stand, where he was attending, and called her name, "Allison!" "Cody! What's up?" she responded, "Do you know where Melanie is? I need to ask her something," he said.
"Yeah, I just saw her standing by the pie stand," she said, pointing where the pie stand was. "Oh, thanks," he said and lightly smiled, "No problemo," she responded, in a weird spanish accent and walked away.
Meanwhile, Cody fixed his hair a bit and headed to where she was. While walking, he couldn't help but admire her, how her medium, straight, blonde hair was fixed into a beautiful bun, how the sunshine made possible for only her silhouette to be visible, how she stood on her tip toes and wrapped her arms around the guy's neck to ki—Wait! What?! No.
Cody freezed when he saw that his lovely crush was kissing some dude, and couldn't help but feel like someone just punched him in the gut. Realizing he was in the middle of the football field, where the sale was taking off, staring weirdly at the recent found couple. He turned around and walked back to the cupcake stand and helped his friend, Tyler, trying to get his mind off of the previous event he had just witness.
The bakery sale had finished and everybody was packing up, Cody grabbed his phone and started walking to his car. He was about to get there, when he heard a sweet and angelic voice call his name.
"Cody! Wait up, I want you to meet someone," Melanie said while holding hands with the guy she kissed before, "He's Chad, we met over summer. He attends another school, so that's why I never got the chance to present him to you. He's my boyfriend," when she said that, Cody felt his heart had broken into pieces.
"Nice to meet you," Chad said, and shook hands with Cody, "Uh, uhm, well, I- uh, got to go, but uhm, nice to meet you, Chad. See you later, Melanie," with that, Cody got in his car and started the engine. He drove off and left his love with the one she loved.
He stopped at a red light, and screamed. Anger and sadness running through his veins, he couldn't accept the fact that she was not his.
He got to his house, safely, but his mind was not clear and he wanted to punch something. He ran up to his room, and punched a wall. Sadly, the wall was not strong enough to resist his fist, it now had a hole and his fist, blood.
He sat on his bed, sighing, when his phone beeped.
"Hey, you were acting weird today. Something wrong?" He read Allison's message and decided to call her."Hello," she answered, "So, what's wrong?" "Well, Melanie has a boyfriend, which I saw her kiss," Cody responded. "Oh, Chad. Yeah, I knew about him, but I have a bad vibe from that guy," she said sounding skeptical, "He seems like the type of guy that cheats on girls."
"Yeah, I mean, besides the fact the I'm jealous... I don't feel he's good for her," he tried to whisper the word jealous, but it was a fail, since Allison heard him. "It's your right to be helish, you still get jealous!" She sang out of tune, "Sorry, couldn't help it."
"Yeah, I know, hahaha," he said, chucking, "But, yeah, I'm jealous."
"Don't worry, I don't think it would take that much time for her to know, he's not good enough for her," she encouraged, "Breath, smile and live."
It'd always seem like she had the right words to say, no matter what situation you were going through, she would always be there for you.
"Yeah, thank you, Dallas," he said. "You're welcome, Henderson," she responded. They used their last names as nicknames. "Talk to you later, douche," she said and laughed, "Sure thing, dumbass," he chuckled. "I hate you," she said, "I hate you, too," he said and hung up.
