It was 5 years later when the group of friends got together once again, Melanie, Cody, Allison, Drew, and even Tyler appeared at the small barbecue.
Everybody was in college and even married at that time. Melanie was studying to be a lawyer at Yale, Cody was studying Art at Yale as well, they were no longer a couple, yet you could see they were still in love.
Allison made her way into Harvard, with a scholarship, and Drew was about to make his big debut with his second album. They had separated due to their busy schedules, but ended up back together after a year, and within those small dates, they got engaged.
Kristen died at the hospital due to the lost of blood on her leg, and Ariana was sent to a mental hospital.
"Oh come on, you obviously want her back!" Tyler punched Cody on his arm as he said that sentence. Cody rolled his eyes, "I do, but I know for sure she doesn't want to get back together," he sighed.
"Melanie! Come here please," Tyler shouted, so he could get Melanie's attention from the living room, "What the heck dude! Why would you—" "You'll thank me later," Tyler interrupted as Melanie made her way to them.
"Hello, Tyler and... Cody," Melanie said, looking at both of them sitting on the comfortable couch of Tyler's big house. Tyler was actually the first one, and only one out of all, that had gotten married. Nobody really expected that, not even him.
"Well, do you guys want something to drink? I'll go get some drinks," Tyler said and got up, leaving Melody—Melanie and Cody—alone. "So, what's new in your life?" Cody asked, trying to spark up a conversation.
Melanie shrugged and looked down at the floor, "Not much, what about you?" "It's pretty much the same boring life I've always had, except that... Well, you know," Cody said, leaving Melanie clueless. "I know... What?" Melanie asked, "You know that my life was always boring, except when you were in it," Cody answered, leaving Melanie without words.
"I-I have to go," she said, walking away, "I'm not letting you go without fighting this time," Cody said, standing up and grabbing her by the wrist, he turned her around and like so, their faces were really close, their noses almost touching.
"I love you," Cody started, "No, scratch that, I am in love with you, and you know that. Since we met, I knew you had something special within you, you always made me laugh when I fell like the world was ending. You always kept promises, and one of them was that you would always be there for me, and... You were always there for me, you're really someone special, and I want you in my life as long as I can," Cody leaned on Melanie's face and kissed her gently, like if she was a fragile glass that could be broken with just a breath. She kissed back, responding to his words, not with words, but with actions.
"Cody, I'm in love with you, too," she said, making him smile like a little kid on the morning of Christmas day.
Then they heard people clapping, apparently their little scene was being watched by the whole entire crowd, and they did not want to change the channel.
"Let's make a toast," Allison said, grabbing her red solo cup with water in it, "For those who are married, those whoa are in love, and those who finally understand that love has its obstacles, but you can either run from them, or learn from them," "Cheers?" Drew asked out loud, "Cheers!"
