"Guess who's back and better than ever?" Ariana said walking inside Melanie's house.

Melanie put up a weird smile while she walked towards Ariana to hug her. "Hey," she said, and grabbed her hand, walking towards her couch in order to sit and talk with her old friend.

"Guess what?" Ariana said, excited. "What?" Melanie asked, with a hint of curiosity. Ariana rolled her eyes and responded, "No, guess!"
This time, Melanie rolled her eyes, "Is it something about—," "CODY LIKES ME!" Ariana interrupted, screaming and scaring Melanie in the process.

Melanie, scared, yet confused at the same time, asked, "What do you mean?" "I mean, Cody-freaking-Henderson likes me! A girl from school, who I kept contact with, told me that a friend of her cousin, who also studies there, told her best friend and then that girl told her boyfriend, the guy then told my friend, her name's Kristen by the way, that Cody has a crush on one of his best friends."

When Ariana finished, she was out of breath and Melanie, even though she understood, she was confused in one small part.

"One of his best friends? Have you kept contact with him, by any chance? I mean, he doesn't talk that much about you," Melanie said, Ariana frowned. "Who else could it be, rather than me? I'm perfect for him and he's perfect for me," she said, smiling.

"Hahaha, yeah, true," Melanie said, trying to act as if it was the most obvious thing in the world.

"Anyway, what is up girl? We haven't talked in like two weeks! Update me with news from your current babe, your current phone, and like, your favorite song at the moment! Mine is Let me take a Selfie, by the way," Ariana said, with a those-types-of-girls kind of accent.

"Uh, well," Melanie started, "I currently have a red iPhone 5c, my favorite song at the moment is Daughter by Youth, and-currently-I-don't-have-a-boyfriend-but-I-kissed-Cody-and-I-think-he-likes-me-but-I'm-really-confused-about-my-feelings-I'm-sorry," Melanie said, tried to control her breath and then asked, "How's the weather in Canada?"

Ariana, dumbfounded, laughed. "What?" she asked, "Uh, the weather's nice sometimes and really cold in other days."

"Oh, cool," Melanie said, still out of breath, but smiled because she avoided the kissing-Cody-kill-me-Ariana theme by—

"So, when did you kiss Cody?" Ariana interrupted Melanie's thoughts. Melanie's face flushed, and she suddenly felt her mouth go dry.

"Uh, w-we, on, it was on Monday," she said, "But, I-I'm really confused about-about my feelings towards h-him—please don't kill me!" "Why would I kill you, you're like one of my best friends for life and death, I mean, girl, you are my Starbucks buddy," Ariana giggled, she was taking the information in a calm way, it was strange.

Melanie, with a small frown formed in her face, asked her, "So, you're all right with the fact that we kissed?" "Yeah, I mean, he totally loves me, so that's why he kissed you," she responded. "Why does that have to do with him loving you?" "I mean, he loves me, but I was not here, so he tried to get over me, but since I'm back now, we will end up marrying and having three kids, Ashley, Matthew and Mark," "Wow, that's a whole future you have there," Melanie said, confused and a bit creeped-out.

"Anyway, it's Saturday, I just got here, you apparently have not gone to school because you're sick," Ariana said, which was actually true, because even though Melanie faked her sickness at first, she managed to get a real cold. She had gone to throw the garbage and it was raining, plus she couldn't see a thing because of the rain so she spent five minutes trying to find the trash can.

Grabbing an umbrella would have been a great idea, yet it didn't come to Melanie's mind until after she was soaking wet.

"Yeah, but I feel better now, want to go somewhere?" "Sure," Ariana responded. "All right, let me change these sweatpants for some jeans and we will go to the mall," "Yay! Shopping time!" Melanie giggled at Ariana's reaction before saying, "I'll be down in a minute."
