It was Monday, everyone sat at the same table at lunch, except for Allison, Drew, and Ariana. Ariana had missed school, but Allison and Drew simply sat at another table because Drew wanted Allison to socialize a bit more with his friends.
"Why do you think Ariana missed school today?" Kristen asked out Melanie, "She told me she had twisted her ankle while walking up the stairs of her house on Friday," "Oh, I get it," Kristen said and she continued eating her tuna salad.
"Hey, Cody, what did you make for Art Class?" Melanie asked, curious on the topic, "Well, I decided on drawing a hand grabbing a rose, I bet Allison will love it, because it has a lot of red," he said, and chuckled, Melanie couldn't help but think he looked cute when he smiled.
"What did you do?" "Huh?" Melanie asked, since she had zoned out for a moment, "Uh, I drew a puppy, coloring only the puppy and leaving the grass with pencil," "Nice, I would like to see it afterwards," "Sure," Melanie said, looking at him and smiling.
They later on met in Art Class, they had been right, Allison loved Cody's drawing because of the red rose. She had drawn someone's face, coloring only the bright blue color of the eyes. The assignment was to draw something black and white, but leaving like a type of color splash on it.
"You all did an amazing job on the color splash theme, the Art Wall will soon be showing all of your artwork by the end of this week," Mrs. Brown said, adding a smile at the end.
As the bell rang, and everybody got out of class, Cody grabbed Melanie's hand and pulled her to a place near a window so they could talk.
"Look, I know you don't feel that way about me, but I just wanted to see if you'd like to hang out tonight and maybe watch a movie with me?" Cody asked rapidly as Melanie was left with her mouth wide opened, she then shook her head, and gave him a small smile.
"So?" He encouraged, "Sure, I would like that," Melanie responded, making Cody smile wildly.
"All right, then I'll pick you at 6:00PM," "6:00PM, got it," she smiled, making him smile once again.
That night, they shared a kiss under the light of the moon, once again, but this time, Melanie actually knew her feelings towards Cody.
On Wednesday, Allison called Ariana to see how she was doing, because this was the third day she had not gone to school and her friends started to worry that it might have been something serious.
"She said the doctor told her she did not need a cast, but she needed to take at least a week without walking, and she couldn't get crutches either," Allison explained, and everybody just nodded their heads. With that settled down, they continued eating their meals.
"Hey, Melanie," Cody said, Melanie looked up at him, a small blush on her cheeks, "Yeah?" "I was wondering—" "If after all these years you'd like to meet," Drew interrupted, "Dude, I would say, 'Shut up, you have an ugly voice!' But, you don't, so I hate you," Cody said, and Drew simply smirked and turned back to finishing his food.
"So?" "Oh, yeah, I was... Thinking that, if you didn't mind, we could meet at the Ice Cream store that you like so much," "Sure, when?" "Today, like at 4:00PM?" "I'll be there," Melanie said, and as they looked at each other with loving eyes, the rest bothered them.
Both, Melanie and Cody, were as red as tomatoes every time they said something about them.
At 4:00PM, they were at the Ice Cream store.
"I have a question," Melanie said, "All right, ask," Cody said. "Why did you want to meet me here?" She asked, curious for his answer.
"Well," he started, grabbing her soft, yet cold hand, "You know I like you, a lot, and I know you like me, too. So, I don't know, I was just thinking that I've always wanted to be happy, and you really make me happy, like everything you do, I see you and I smile because of your beauty, you're beautiful inside and out. To make it short, 'cause if I continue we'll be here until tomorrow, would you like to be my girlfriend?"
Melanie was in shock, all those words almost made her cry. "Yes," she said, smiling at him, "Yes, I would love to be your girlfriend."
Cody smiled and looked at their hands, "May I?" He asked, and she nodded knowing what his next move was going to be.
He stood up, sat beside her, they were sitting on a booth, placed his index finger under her chin and gently pushed her face upward so he could kiss her lips. The kiss was soft, but full of love, a love they both felt. As they pulled away, a small blush crept on each of their cheeks.
Their Ice Cream had melted by the time Cody went back to sitting across from her, so they simply ate it like if it was a soup.
When they finished eating, they went to the park where they had shared their first kiss, and walked through the grass towards the swings.
It was not long enough when they stood up from them, because some kids started arguing telling them they were too big to be on their swings.
As they got to Melanie's house, Cody walked her to the door, and he leaned down to kiss her one last time before he left to his house. As she entered her house, she was greeted by her mom, "You have any news?" Her mom asked.
Melanie blushed, "I have a boyfriend now," "I knew you were going to end up together," "Wait, what?" "Yeah, it was a Mom instinct," they both laughed and hugged.
Melanie walked up the stairs with a smile on her face, she collapsed on her bed and then heard her phone beep. She stuck her hand into her pocket and got her phone out, it was a text message from Cody.
C: Good Night, beautiful... <3
Her smile became wider, and she held her phone to her heart before responding.
M: Good Night <3 <3
And with that, she left her phone charging while she slept with a big smile on her lips.
