A common joke within the Kokonose family is that Ryota is some old man reincarnated, because yeah, he really does act like an old man. Despite his love for modern technology, with things like modern cameras, video games, and being able to text his friends, the way he talks makes him feel so much older than he is, especially with the fact he's a youngest sibling in their little family of four and his parents are infamously known for being two very immature adults.
He has a very, aged outlook on life. And honestly given his specific circumstances he has every right to. You see, ha ha ha, just because his father was thrown in and out of his body, that doesn't necessarily mean his genes went away. So,
Yeah- Ryo got his fathers heart condition. While medicine has advanced over time and the boy, obviously, has a life expectancy of more than 16 years of life, there still isn't that much of a positive outlook and he was expected to have a shortened life span. His parents tried to do what Haruka's father had failed to do, and comfort him. But, well- they are absolutely horrible at comforting people. Maybe it's the trauma maybe it's the social awkwardness maybe it's because they're idiots I don't know, but yeah, Ryo gives them a gold star for effort.
Because of this, he likes to try and take in life while he can. Experience all he is able to, just enjoy the tile he has and tell others to do the same. It's one of the main reasons why he ignored Hanako's rants and claims that "his parents are actually ghosts that came back seeking revenge on their murderer Hibiya", he just doesn't want to spend a large portion of his life trying to find out something he may not want to know. Why taint the view of life he has now.
He considers himself pretty different from his parents. While the most obvious contrast his from his mother's loud, outspoken personality, Ryo gets compared to his father a lot but he doesn't see it. While his father is seemingly very positive and "sing-songy" around others now that his illness is gone and he has the ability to act in such a way, Ryo shows his happiness or excitement in other ways, like through wanting to show people things he enjoys or just small little acts of kindness. He isn't very touchy feely and just likes to
Enjoy things.
Oh also he's a huge nerd. Like a hugeeeee hecking nerd. Boy will literally get into any franchise ever just because he wants experience everything. Except riverdale, he doesn't want to waste his precious life time on that crap.
But yeah, he will take the time to learn and get into just about anything and everything. In his room he has a little cork board where he pins pictures of everything he has gotten into recently, from video games to movies and anime to new song artists and albums, he likes to look at it just to be proud of all he's accomplished. Good boy.
