Due to the comments of the cuteness in the last Hugs and some people wonndering what next, I have made another Hugs. This couldnt have come soon enough. I have been extremely busy of late, what with the Super Bowl (GO SEAHAWKS!) and school, etc. In fact, I was working on a different one-shot before i thought of this one. Enjoy!

   ...

Lily returned for her sixth year to Hogwarts that September 1 anxiously. She hadn’t seen Severus all summer, no matter how much she wanted to sneak out of her house and go see him. When she stepped into the Great Hall and sat at the Gryffindor table, James, Sirius, Peter, and Remus wouldn’t move out of her way so she could see the Slytherin table. She hadn’t seen him at Platform 9¾ either, or on the train. Could he have skipped his sixth year of Hogwarts? She thought nervously. It was quite a possibility. One she didn’t want to consider.

She didn’t see him until the next morning, when they went into the dungeons to be taught Advanced Potions by Professor Slughorn, the then Head of Slytherin. Lily had never liked him much. She had much rather preferred to watch Severus stir his Potions than to look at Slughorn.

In fact, there he was, sitting with Regulus Black, Sirius’s brother. My God, she thought, her heart quickening a pace. He was just so…handsome. His hair wasn’t half as greasy as it used to be, and he looked better taken care of than he used to. He had grown taller and had grown into his body. Even though he was 16, he looked like a man. He was still thin of course, but now there was muscle added. His skin didn’t look so pale either. And was that a new set of robes?

She vaguely heard Sirius whisper to James, “My mum took Snivellus in over the summer-half the reason I left.”

“I would’ve left too. Your mum must be cleaning more than she usually does now, what, with all the grease laying about the place.” James replied darkly. Sirius chuckled. Lily was still staring at Severus, which James saw.

“Lily,” he said trying to distract her, but she didn’t look away. Sighing, James talked to Sirius again.

  …

Lily left Potions disappointed. As much as she had been staring at the young Slytherin, he hadn’t even glanced her way. Sighing, she left towards Gryffindor tower.

  …

Despite Lily’s belief, Severus had sneaked a glance at her. Many glances actually. Regulus had whispered to him, “Hey, the Mudblood’s sneaking a glance at you.” Severus had snarled at the word Mudblood, but looked at Lily. She was in fact looking at him, her lip bitten. Did she know she was doing that?

Satisfaction overwhelming him that someone so beautiful could take an interest in him, he felt himself sit up straighter. Ever since moving in with the Blacks, he had been much better off. His confidence and health had increased tremendously, and while he wasn’t as arrogant as Potter, he was just a little cocky. But only about his academics. Everyone knew he would be valedictorian, and he wanted to prove everyone right.

He smirked to Regulus. “She is rather beautiful, isn’t she?” Severus said.

   …

A month had passed, and while there had been no conversation between the two, there had been many stolen glances and tiny smirks aimed at each other. Finally Lily made the first move.

It was after a Potions class. Her Potion had gone terribly wrong, and Lily had decided to get help.

Severus had been packing his stuff into his bag when Lily tapped him on the shoulder. He turned to look into her green eyes, and he smirked. “Yes?” he said smoothly, as if he wasn’t Severus Snape, but the most popular boy in Slytherin. Who knows, maybe everyone had accepted the change the Blacks made in Snape? Maybe he wasn’t just the poor half-blood, but the poor half-blood that the pureblood Blacks had taken in.

Lily bit her lip unconsciously. Severus stared, but only for a moment before Lily said, “Can you help? My Potions grade is suffering horribly, and I didn’t know who else to come to…” She trailed off.

Severus smirked again. “Well, you’ve come to the right person, indeed. Here-“ Snape pulled a book out of his bag. It was a copy of the Advanced Potions-Making book that the sixth years needed. But this one looked worn out. “It’s not the best,” Severus explained, “but I’ve had it since fourth year, I would expect it to be in that condition. I’ve written a bunch in it, you can use it though. The advice in there is very reliable and will work. If you can trust my ability with Potions, that is.”

Lily nodded and took the book out of his hands. “I do trust you. I’ve seen you with Potions. Thanks Sev.” And with that, she reached up to hug him and gave his cheek a kiss.

As she was walking away, she didn’t see Severus blush.

  …

It was one month from the end of term now. Lily walked to the dungeons and knocked on the door. She had meant to ask Professor Slughorn about a certain potion. But to her surprise, Severus Snape was the one who answered with a lop-sided grin. “Hey,” he said, his voice slurred.

“Where’s Slughorn?” Lily asked curiously. “I needed to ask him about something…” she held out her copy of Advanced Potion-Making for Severus to see. He looked at the book than back to her.

“Slughorn’s gone for the weekend, but we Slytherins found a way into his office. You know how it connects to the dungeons.” He explained, before smirking slyly. “And he’s got a lot of firewhiskey in his office.”

Lily stepped into the dungeons, following a tipsy Snape towards the Head of House’s office. There, she was met with the sight of eight other Slytherins taking shots, holding hands, and laughing. They were sitting in a circle, as if they had just been playing truth or dare. Judging by the empty bottle of firewhiskey between them all, they were playing.

Regulus looked up at Severus. “Who was it?”

“Just a curious little Gryffindor,” Severus said before smirking. “How about we show the lion how the snakes play?”

Every one of the Slytherins around Lily smiled wide. She was in for a good time.

   …

The night sped on, and by 1a.m., everyone was in a couple except Severus and Lily. Surrounded by the snogging couples, Severus felt awkward. He turned to Lily, who was looking expectingly. She had had a few drinks, but was sober enough to know what she was doing.

“Let’s walk into the class for a second,” he suggested, and the pair of them got up, Lily holding Severus’s hand as they walked into the dungeon. When they arrived, Severus turned to Lily. “So, what were you gonna ask old Slughorn anyway?”

Lily smirked. “I wanted to know what’s average for someone to smell in Amortentia.” Even drunk, Severus knew what that meant. He got closer to her.  “And what did you smell?” He said seductively, backing Lily into the desk. She smirked up at him. “Well, right now, it would smell a bit like firewhiskey.”

Severus couldn’t hold back after that comment. He brought Lily’s face up to his and kissed her deeply and passionately. When they broke apart, he asked, “Does it taste like firewhiskey too?”

Lily giggled. “Just a bit…Hey, can I ask you something?”

   “What?”

“Why did you help me with my Potions O.W.L.?”

Severus laughed. “Because it was annoying how horrible you can be at making Potions. Aren’t you glad I gave you my book now?”

And Severus gave Lily another drunken kiss.

   …

The following afternoon, Professor Slughorn was cleaning up his office, getting ready for Monday’s lesson, when he noticed a copy of Advanced Potion-Making on the floor. He opened the cover. This Book is the Property of the Half-Blood Prince.

Whoever the hell that was, Slughorn thought. He shoved it into the bottom of a cabinet in the dungeon, closing the door and never thinking about it again.

In fact, the book was never seen again until 20 years later, when Harry Potter and Ronald Weasley fought over the better copy, and Potter ended up with the book, never suspecting who the Half-Blood Prince was.
