A Trip To Hogsmead

Severus hated winter.  He hated the cold. Granted, he hadn't bundled up like he should. He hadn't even worn his scarf.

He hated snow. The mix of mud, grass, and snow would look ugly on Severus's clean shoes. He hated it.

Severus looked like the world could annoy him no more as he walked along the path to Hogsmead, trying to get his mind off things.

Lucius had been talking to him about being a Death Eater again. He tried turning down Lucius, again, but to no avail. Lucius will still persist, he knew this.

But Severus couldn't do that to Lily. She expected better of Severus.

"Severus Snape, what are you doing out here in the cold only wearing a cloak?" Lily Evans walked up to Severus, getting after him. Severus smiled, seeing his scarf, beanie, gloves and extra jacket in her arms.

"Get down here," she commanded and Severus leaned down, letting Lily put his scarf on his neck. Her fingers on her skin made for the wierdest sensations. She put on his beanie and Severus put his jacket and gloves on.

Lily smiled once Severus was better dressed. She wrapped her arms around him. "Look at you, all warm and cute now."

Severus was warm now, but not because of the clothes.

"Come to Hogsmead with me," Lily pleaded. Severus smiled warmly. "Can I say no?" Lily shook her head and took Severus's hand.

She's so cute, I might just kiss her now.

Stop that Snape. She wouldn't like you anyway, she's been hanging out with that Potter boy, you know she likes him.
Snape's heart dropped, but he went with Lily anyway.

   ...

Severus sat on a rock and Lily sat beside him, wrapping one of her arms around his waist. He did the same to her.

"You're really warm, Sev," Lily said, letting Snape snuggle his head in between the crook of her head and shoulder. Her scent was intoxicating.

"So are you, Lils..." he muttered.

I wonder if she's taking this position as friendly or romantic...

They were both 16 and were in the middle of their sixth year. There were many times occasions were their friendship flirted with the line of friends and relationships, but Severus never knew if Lily thought of those occasions and blushed like he did.
He glanced up. Lily was looking down at Snape with affection. He lifted his head and stared at her. Then, for some strange reason, he kissed her nose and said, "You're so cute."

Lily giggled. Severus thought she was laughing at him until she said, "Was that flirting, Mr. Snape?"

Severus bit his lip smiling. "So what if it was, Ms. Evans?"

Lily opened her mouth to answer, but at that moment, a snowball hit Severus in the back of the head.

"What the hell?" Severus turned around quickly, before getting hit in the face with two more snowballs.

"Nice one, James!" Sirius's voice called out. James laughed. They came out of the bushes where they were hiding, smirking.

"Keep me warm, Lily," James mocked.

"You're so cute, Lily," Sirius sneered.

"You gonna kiss her next, Snivellus?" James suggested.

"Hopefully not, Lily would spend days washing the grease off her lips." Sirius laughed.

"Stop it, guys," Lily said, but Severus had pulled out his wand already.

He aimed at Sirius, "Confundo! Flipendo!" Sirius was flipped backwards into a tree, confusing him even more than the Confundus charm had made him.

Severus pointed at James, but James had pulled his out as well.

"Locomotor Mortis!" James yelled. "Protego!" Snape blocked the leg-locking curse, rebounding it on James. James fell backwards. "Levicorpus!" Snape lifted James and dropped him onto Sirius, making both of them grunt from quick loss of air.

"Severus, stop." Lily begged, tugging on Severus's wand arm. Severus looked at Lily and decided to obey her. That look in her eyes was enough to kill him.

"Finite incantatum." Snape muttered. The spells on James and Sirius wore off, and they both got up and ran.

Lily looked at Severus. "I'm sorry," he started to say, before she said, "You took on two opponents at the same time, and you won."

"Well, of course, Lily. They're not the best at spells, and I'm a lot more resourceful and stronger than you seem to think. No need for the tone of surprise." Severus smirked.

But then he thought about what just happened. "Why are you with me?"

Lily looked at him confused. "Because you're my friend...?"

Severus shook his head. "Lily, you know you like James more than me, you can go to him you know-"

Lily sat on Severus's lap and kissed his lips suddenly, silencing him. He relished in the touch of her lips and let his hands rest on her hips. She entered into his mouth and he moaned slightly. Then Lily broke the kiss.

"For someone so 'resourceful' you sure can be stupid." Lily giggled. "I like you Severus. James isn't gonna change that, Sirius isn't gonna change that, I don't even think you can change that."

Severus smiled, relieved that her Gryffindor courage made her confess to a crush. For all his Slytherin cunningness and ambition, he couldn't admit to his love in five years like she just did in five seconds.

"I don't wanna change that." Severus said, kissing Lily again.

   ...

Severus and Lily walked hand in hand towards Hogwarts. Lily cuddled into Severus as they walked.

"It seems colder than before, Sev." She remarked lightly.

   "I'll fix that." Severus promised.

A kid was walking by with a newspaper in hand. Severus grabbed the newspaper and crumpled it up. "Wingardium leviosa!" The newspaper ball floated in front of Lily and Severus. "Incedio." The newspaper erupted in flames. The kid looked crestfallen.

"Sorry, kid, my girlfriend's cold." Severus taunted and they walked past.

Severus was warmed instantly by the mobile fire, and so was Lily. She tightened her hold on Severus.

"So, you're girlfriend, eh?" Lily smirked.

"Would you rather be called something else, Ms. Evans?" Severus whispered in her ear.

"Girlfriend will do, Mr. Snape." Lily whispered back in his ear, kissing his cheek.
