"Where are we?" Lily asked Severus. She held a crying Harry in her arms, looking up at the Death Eater curiously. He closed the door and locked it. "Incedio." The fireplace lit up and a fire started burning.

He turned back to the Gryffindor woman. "Don't you remember this place, Lily? Oh, I forgot. You never got invited into my house."

"This is Spinner's End?" She asked. Severus answered by nodding. He sat down on the couch, using his wand to draw all the curtains.

"There's a room down the hall with a bed, set Harry down in there. Shut him up too, he's been crying for forever." Severus snarled. But Lily knew he didn't mean it.

She walked away, leaving Severus to himself for a moment. He began to think.

Holy shite, what do I do now? That git of hers is dead, that little git of hers is crying up a storm.
Bloody hell Severus, what are you gonna do? Voldemort is surely going to find you and kill you...
Well, it's not me I'm worried about necessarily... Severus glanced over to where Lily had dissapeared. He's going to come for her. You know that. That's why he sent you to kill her in the first place.
Severus wanted to yell. He wanted to scream. Why did life have to be so unfair? Severus knew there were only two options: die soon or stay in hiding for the rest of their lives.

Severus grabbed a pillow from the couch and stuffed it into his face, screaming into it. This isn't fair! This isn't fair! This isn't FAIR!

"Severus!" Lily yelled and came up to him, putting her hands on his shoulders. He stopped yelling and put the pillow down, glancing up at her.

"Are you okay, Sev?" She asked. He bit his lip, looking at her. Gods, she was pretty. Very pretty. Beautiful.

"We need to hide. No one knows of my address - I wasn't stupid enough to tell the Dark Lord of my address - but either way, this place isn't promising."

Lily took this in, then thought over it carefully. "I see...I propose we stay the night here, then go toto Hogwarts."

"What will Hogwarts do?"

"Dumbledore, he'll fix this-"

"Dumbledore won't fix anything! He couldn't give a damn! Even when he heard of the prophecy, he didn't do shit to help you and James-"

"Prophecy?" Lily asked. Severus frowned.

"Of course he wouldn't tell you," he grumbled.

"There was a prophecy? Severus, tell me, please." Lily's eyes were pleading. He stared into her emerald eyes, feeling to need to obey her every whim.

"The prophecy spoke of a boy born at the end of July, one who would have the power to kill the Dark Lord. I suppose he thinks it's your brat over there." Severus nodded towards the room Harry was sleeping in.

"Don't call him a brat, Sev," she protested, but her smile showed she wouldn't do anything about it. Severus smiled back.

"So, he wants to kill Harry?" Lily continued.

Severus sighed. "Yes, he wishes to kill Harry. That was his plan this whole time. We - the Death Eaters he sent - were supposed to kill you and James, and he would make the kill on Harry."

Lily looked on the verge of tears. "He's a third of the way there," she spoke softly.

Severus stood up and held Lily, and she gratefully wrapped her arms around him. She cried into his shoulder, and he could only imagine the pain she was going through.
